yep this is aussie unis pounding people in the ass for doing well
that sounds like the dumbest thing i have ever heard. over here in the uk they rearrange resources and add capacity/drop courses according to demand. you also have to declare your choices at the start of the academic year, far in advance, so all the timetabling and class organisation can take place. you do it on a semester by semester basis and have to... retake an entire year... if one semester doesn't go right?
