Ok, I haven't even installed the 1.3 patch yet, due to the underwhelming support...
One thing I HAVE noticed is people having problems with the in-game server since day one, and now it's worse due to 1.3...
Try the Battlefield2 Auto Launcher if you haven't already; I've been using it for over 1/2 a year now, and NEVER use the in-game browser because it gives me actual ping times, ranked filter that works, etc...

(You need the 1.1 .Net framework, NOT the 2.0 that the link brings you to...you'll see it.)

Let me (and others) know if it resolves your 1.3 Server Browser issues..hopefully, you can continue gaming.

You're not kidding...gotta love open source.
(Make sure to disable the intro movies, and set your account in the preferences....And make sure there's at least two spots open or you may not get in, and then have to exit BF2 and do over...)

Community Update - 5/25/06

Attention Soldiers and Server Admins!

After a thorough investigation into the issues plaguing the server browser after the 1.3 Update, we believe that a last minute update in the way the Battlefield servers and Gamespy servers communicate may be the cause.

We have decided to revert this change in an attempt eliminate these browser issues. Please note that no uninstalling or re-installing is required by players or server admins. All servers currently running must be restarted once this change has taken place.

Please also note that if you are experiencing CTD issues upon start up that any alternate-ranking redirections in your windows "Hosts" file must be removed.

The reversion will occur at 2:00 PST. We are continuing to review other issues players have noted with 1.3. Further updates will be posted to this space as they become available."

Yeah..I saw that too. Pretty amazing that their testers didn't come across that "last minute change", huh...?

I'm sad for all those people playing the demo on Gulf of Oman (Yes, they are still out there.. In masses, even), buying BF2, and having to patch it up to 1.3 only to realize it's a whole other game..
