Not a big Bond fan to begin with, but this one was just not doing it for me.
I heard they were going to revamp it to make it younger... I guess they meant in the next movie. They somehow made this one feel even older. This was was like watching Bond run around with my mother in law and Grizzly Adams.
Very little story. Very little villain scheme. Very little spy work. Very little overall action after the opening 20 minutes. Very long. Very slow. No gadgets. No figuring things out. No mystery. No wow factor. No caring about the characters. No emotion except a 10 minute woe is me section.
They could have made the movie totally about the villain and it would have been much more interesting. Being Jaws Malchovich.
I might have found it better if I had waited for DVD. As it is, I felt like I wasted a date night on it. Couldn't wait for it to hurry up and end so I could go home and go to sleep.

Silva (in Skyfall) = Javier Bardem
I can't stand Javier as an actor. No Country for Old Men was terrible and that was the only thing I could think of whenever he had a scene in Skyfall. The overall movie was decent but I still prefer the Bond movies from the 60s and 70s.
Yeah, Silva just reminded me of Jaws as if he were played by John Malkovich. He had those Malkovich mannerisms in a Jaws-like body. Plus... You know.... The teeth.
wat. you don't like javier bardem and no country for old men?

It was very much a movie about old vs. new and trust. Those are very familiar concepts to a lot of people.
The movie was definitely made for fans of Bond.
I liked it. 7.5/10 after a first view.

The PPK, the DB5, going back to M's old school office, a more "old experienced chap" as M, Moneypenny, etc.

I found skyfall to be more style than substance. I'd give it a 7/10.
Argo - 7/10
Pretty reasonable, some funny in-jokes, the cinema has cut coffee but added chocolate choc-tops, still no beer though.

A lot of you really liked Moonrise Kingdom. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't really good either. Just kind of meh.

Though I liked it myself, I can't really argue with anyone who didn't think it was to their taste.
Skyfall: 6-7ish/10.
As someone who likes the new Bond films, this wasn't as awesome as it has been hyped to be. Probably comparable to Quantum of Solace - good action, w/ passable storyline necessary to provide said action. Neither has been as good as Casino Royale. Daniel Craig is still great at the role, fwiw.

And could we have "hacking" portayed in a major film in a way that doesn't involve gimmicky screen graphics? That shit has been a major pet peeve of mine for as long as I can remember. And don't get me started on what sides the ejection ports were on!!!

How much of those 3-4 negative points were from your spoiler?

All of them.
It was really a minor gripe, the biggest complaint was that I just never felt a real "wow" moment during it. Nothing really wrong with the movie per se, but also nothing to make it really stand out compared to the other films. I should have watched it earlier, before people had time to hype it up, and maybe I would have had a different impression.

tbh, flashy-screen computer hacking irritates me too in movies, but I understand why it's done. you're not going to hold much of the audience's attention with two minutes of black background and white text.
