i always do 3x10, but i know that doing pyramiding sets can help, i simply don't like doing it on all lifts except deadlifts because i always tend to drop back to much once i stop pyramiding.Jaekus wrote:
I'm all for rep ranges these days. What I will do with, say, bench press, is work up to 9 or 10 reps, then up the weight and go for 6 reps. Next workout aim for 7, one after that 8, etc. Maybe something like this might help you out of a plateau?
With deadlifts I think I will keep it in the 6-8 range. Squats I'm working on getting them to 10-12, all other lifts around 6-10. I'm still getting a feel for it for the different exercises, but for the past 6 months I've been going 6-8 then upping weight with success. Helps with a spotter (PT) and he always pushes me to go up in weight even if it means a couple forced reps to make the 6 minimum. Once I get to 8 on my own he'll usually force rep to 10 and next workout we go up in weight. By myself I will get to 9-10 before going up in weight for safety's sake.
