Just wanted to know about the other side of the hardware group. I like hearing about the folks out there that are lucky enough to have the AMD 64-FX with SLI 7800's. But, I'm curious to hear from some of the folks (like me) that are pushing their hardware to the extreme limits.

i have a P4 1.8 - 512 MB with recent upgrade to a 6600. That isnt too hard on the machine but it aint pretty either...

I have heard many stories about the L337 machines.. .now lets hear from the n0+ so l337.

i just built a system for a friend amd 4400+ it only has a 6600GT in it now, on loan. and we got it to run bf2 at full everything at 1024x768. will be great when we get the 2 7800GT-SH (Factory Overclocked)

But i personlly have a 3gig p4 1024 MB with a radion 9800pro. lol i can run full everything at 8fps but i cruise along at medium with no AA its ok but meh its hard when u build these ubar systems and u dont have one yourself

AMD on an ASUS MOBO running overclocked at about 2.5g with 1.5 g of RAM and a Radeon 9550 vidcard. I can play with no lag at all on a 64 player map on medium settings. Computer is a couple years old and I've only put in RAM and the Vidcard.

the rest is fairly vanilla.

I can run smoothly @ 4xAA, 1280x1024 with all but 2 settings on high.

Maybe a 7800GT down the road but not any time soon.

Looks poor, runs approx 30fps. Still good fun, when its going well.

Oh well, the other half has said I can get a new one in Jan 06.

Settings: Medium, 1280x1024 res., 100% visibility

Some chokes during initial map load ups < 5secs. Other than that, runs smooth like ice cream

Do i qualify ?

Damn. I didn't think mine was all of that great to be honest. I don't consider it elite, nor was it too terribly expensive.
It is better from the machine it replaced. I canabilized what I could.
The previous machine was:
2400+ XP mobile @ 2.4ghz
Gigabyte GN700 pro
Radeon 9700 Pro
1 gig XMS Ram

Did ok for what was in it....until Doom3. Egads

And it plays everything I throw at it smoothly - okay not at 1280*1024@6XAA - but it's enough for me to have great game play and pretty graphics as well (Although I haven't tried Quake4 yet!)

The game runs just fine with everything at "low" with visibility at 100%. It *can* run with all settings at "medium" but i can only manage like 10fps...witch is kinda bad when you want to make split second decisions...

run at 1280x1024 with 100% clip and most every setting on low. Really haven't pushed my machine to see how it runs with some settings turned up, but runs smoothly at what its set at now.
