Lol... I completed the test with the classic "just press A" method and only scored an 87

Maybe you ment you had to get them right...

I took the official MENSA iq test. I was offered to be skipped a year in school, so I guess it was worth it. Also you have a little something to come back at those people claiming how smart they are when you say you're in MENSA. Score on request.

yes oviously you need to get it right, but if you get all the answers right and take the whole 90 secs your score will be much lower than if you got them all right taking only 5 secs per question.

thats why i got such a good score, the puzzle ones i can see and answer in seconds.

I took the Armed Services Vocational Apptitude Battery.  I did very well if memory serves me right.  Not that it matters, I am medically unfit for duty anyway.

And IQ tests are worthless.

EDIT:  And I don't know about the rest of the world, but every MENSA member I have every met around here was dumb as a post.

I don't believe IQ tests.  Especially not ones which contain culturally biased questions.  And especially not ones on the internet which are trying to sell something.  Still, my lecture was cancelled today, so I gave it a spin:

But I still don't think it doesn't proves anything at all, I think most of this specific test is more of an general education test than a mental ability test.

I got a 142 on Sparks test, but I think that's high.  I took a 'real' one once and got a 136, so I suspect that's closer to the truth.  Wouldn't surprise me if that High IQ society bumps people up a bit, after all, they want your money.  Not a bad racket, getting cash from clowns who desperately want to be smart.

Took the ASVAB and maxxed it (99), which came as a surpise, because I'm not particularly 'handy' and a lot of those questions were for serious vocational types!  All those damn circuits and pulleys and levers drove me shithouse.  IIRC got a 138 GT.

Anyone ever take the Miller Analogy Test?  Turns every kind of question (math, science, art etc.) into a verbal analogy.  Talk about biased, I loved it!

You see the big button that says 'purchase profile'... that's what they're selling.

I just pushed random buttons and got 108

reading through later, how can general knowledge determine your IQ?

A real IQ test, like the Weschler WAIS (Weschler adult intelligence scales... or something like that), has something like 12 subtests. Only one of them is based on general knowledge, and the questions are like "what is the capital of [insert country here]" or "who wrote [insert somewhat well known book here]". Of course, in a real test theres no multiple choice, you have to actually know what you're talking about to get it right.

Take my word for it, internet IQ tests are the bastardized retard children of psychologist administered tests. Theres no comparison.

Dont know if this has been mentioned, but you cant compare the bare number on an American test with a number from a European test.
The two use different medians (or what it's called in english), to indicate a spreed from the average (which is 90-110 in europe and 85-115 in ÙS).
The reference point being the same (100), but every venture from then on (being it positiv or negative) has to be x 1.5 going from europe to US.
So a European score of 130 would be (100 + 30*1,5 145 on an amrican score, and a score of 80 in europe would be (100 - 20*1,5 70.

And yes, I also took the test :-)

Good day to you all.

I'm not sure where you're getting those numbers, but from what I know the average range in the U.S is 90-109 (50% of the population, about). Anyway, it doesn't matter, the raw scores aren't as important as the percentile rank. As such, I doubt a score of 130 equals 145 on american tests, because an IQ of 145 is in the 99.8th percentile or above (probably higher, but I've never seen a score above 141, and that was in the 99.7th percentile).

It is so, according to MENSA. I'm not saying Europeans are smarter then American. It just shoves they give different number values.

#edit: And funny, in my previous post, it turned my =_) without _ into a smilie :-)

You may be referring to a different test, the different tests have different scoring systems. The Stanford Binet's average range might be 85-115, but again its the percentile that matters. Where did Mensa publish this info?

LOL I hope none of you guys filled out the address form at the end of the test.
This is one of the hoax sites where by filling out the address form you will get a fat and nice bill in 2 weeks time.... for ordering your IQ certificate.

Bye the way.... the German translation of this site is SO bad (done by one of the online translation bots) that it made me laugh. The last page of the test says "Well done" in English. The German translation says "Brunnen getan".... wich takes the second meaning of "well" (a pit or hole sunk into the earth to reach a supply of water)......

so I took the test and it tells me that I just dug a hole into the earth and reached water..... woot ..... didnt know that I could use my internet connetion for that I should try building a street next time.

If you take their online test, you have to say which continent your from, and it displays your score.
That is where I gathered the info.

#edit: But as they state on their homepage (at least the danish one), it's only a test for fun. So I don't suppose it's an officiel one.

#edit again :-) : A link directly to the test (it's not officiel), and I don't think there is any danish language (exept maybe when the score is shown).

edit again again: doh!, forgot the link http://mensa.dk/iqtest/index.html
