classic EA not testing things properly and not actually playing the game to find these things out.

the vehilce drop is funny though. was sniping on oman the other day and vehicles kept droping next to me. take it the enemy commender was trying to kill me with it but kept missing!

Ok, alot of people have seen this ans say that the arty is already damaged.
So I decided to try this myseld with an arty cannon at full strength.

here are the results:

done that last night on a server..


was promptly kick voted by the enemy commander... he didnt know about vehicle drops lmao..

Minimal damage to other assets, not worth the effort in dropping it.

In theory they are a great idea. Unfortunatly anything in bf2 can and will be exploited to the fullest extent. A simple solution would be to limit the vehicles drop to a certain radius away from flags( ex. there would be a like a 10 ft circle around flags which vehicles could not be dropped) and not at all on uncaps. May not be the best solution but I think it would be an improvement because overall i like have a vehicle available when i need it.

Also one thing i just thought of it might also be a good idea to limit vehicles drop to only when they are requested as well.

There's already a few other threads concerning this, sooner or later everyone will be aware of it, and EA might do something to fix it.

It works on arti at full strenth, for those of you in doubt, just try it for yourself. One thing I did notice is that it takes significantly more damage (or appeared too) than if it were blown up with C4.

I watched the enemy commander drop a supply crate next to it, and it took twice as long to even get it to 1 bar of health.

easy repair points?

you get one repair point for each time you fully repair a commander asset..
if this does double the damage and takes twice as long to repair... thats 2 repair points per asset (yes this works cos i've tried it)
64 player map.. 3 arty cannons.. each destroyed by HWMMV.. thats 6 repair points a time.. + a further 2 for the UAV and Satellite (from a spec ops mission) thats 8 already..
i can see a LOT of people getting expert engineer in the time before they fix this..

also.. if a mod would like to remove this then feel free.. i dont constitute stat padding in any way..

Simple solution to "fix" this and about 90% of the other problems with dropping vehicles:

1.  If the drop location is not Elevation=0, then you can not drop it there (the top of a artillery piece is >0).
2.  Or the variance of the drops are +/- 5m from the drop location.

Runways are not Elevation=0.  Also tops of buildings, USS Essex, cranes, etc...


The second is probalby the easiest to implement.
