Which I'm sure is a more widely listened genre than south london ambient drone.
shakira last.fm: 1.7 million listeners
aphex twin last.fm: 1.1 million listeners
'latin' music tag (of which shakira is one of the most commonly tagged artists) last.fm: used 150,000 times
(or 'spanish' if you prefer that variation - 90,000 times)
'ambient' music tag (of which aphex twin is one of the most commonly tagged artists) last.fm: used 906,000 times
and you're not "misconstruing" things, you say? "south london ambient drone?" aphex twin is from cornwall. he's also one of the most popular and widely acknowledged electronic artists of the last 20 years. you are purposefully trying to construe that a) he is not influential (which he plainly is); and b) that he is some marginal, uzique-underground-hipster-crap 'south london drone ambient' artist. this is not only you misconstruing things like an idiot, but also you betraying just how blatantly foolish you are, and how little you know about this subject. just quit whilst you're ahead. throw in the towel for once, instead of aggravating the same little wound over and over.
