So, you decide which 1/5th of the population of the world you want to starve to death and YOU can go tell them that they and their families WILL starve to death because we don't want to be mean to chickens and cows and we don't want to eat trace amounts of pesticides on our caeser salads.
If people cut their excess protein consumption that would do it by itself. Unless you're pregnant you don't need to eat meat at all.
Growing grain to produce meat is about the most inefficient thing man has ever done.

Also not eating meat is just not a viable solution, proteins and especially iron is more abundant and easier to absorb from meat, it's not just a coincidence that vegetarians and especially vegans have higher then average cases of nutritional malnourishment.
Vegetarians can be perfectly healthy with the right diet.
This gross overconsumption of protein is the biggest problem in the food chain right now.

like i said a page ago, people eat red meat more often than they need to. our lifestyle and the meat/fast-food industry have us over-consuming more than we need. i don't completely agree that we should all turn vegetarian, though.

Man has eaten meat since the dawn of time. Our teeth are designed to accommodate both vegetable and meat. Our closest primate relatives eat meat when it is available to them. Our bodies can even actually survive on meat alone if needed. Humans crave meat and have an appetite for it.
But Dilbert says its useless. So I'm going to go throw all my meat away and eat fucking celery and beans from now on, drop 100 lbs, look like a 14 year old girl and suck a fat dick when I need protein. Just like Dilbert.
dilbert has lethally high cholesterol/high blood pressure. he's vegetarian because eating meat will kill his fat sedentary ass.Cybargs wrote:

There's plenty of iron in non-meat foods. We're not tyrannosaurs. We can get enough iron intake from other sources to "survive" not scarfing down an entire cow every day.
From Google search:
150g steak - 5.55mg iron
30g cashews - 1.5mg iron
2 large eggs - 2mg iron
45cm licorice strip - 10mg iron

What is the recommended intake for iron? wrote:
Recommendations for iron are provided in the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) developed by the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences [1]. Dietary Reference Intakes is the general term for a set of reference values used for planning and assessing nutrient intake for healthy people. Three important types of reference values included in the DRIs are Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA), Adequate Intakes (AI), and Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (UL). The RDA recommends the average daily intake that is sufficient to meet the nutrient requirements of nearly all (97–98%) healthy individuals in each age and gender group [1]. An AI is set when there is insufficient scientific data available to establish a RDA. AIs meet or exceed the amount needed to maintain a nutritional state of adequacy in nearly all members of a specific age and gender group. The UL, on the other hand, is the maximum daily intake unlikely to result in adverse health effects [1]. Table 3 lists the RDAs for iron, in milligrams, for infants, children and adults.
Age Males (mg/day) Females (mg/day) 7 to 12 months 11 11 1 to 3 years 7 7 4 to 8 years 10 10 9 to 13 years 8 8 14 to 18 years 11 15 19 to 50 years 8 18 51+ years 8 8

Total dietary iron intake in vegetarian diets may meet recommended levels; however that iron is less available for absorption than in diets that include meat [58]. Vegetarians who exclude all animal products from their diet may need almost twice as much dietary iron each day as non-vegetarians because of the lower intestinal absorption of nonheme iron in plant foods [1]. Vegetarians should consider consuming nonheme iron sources together with a good source of vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, to improve the absorption of nonheme iron [1]

What? You want to live forever? If I cut out all the things that are "bad" for me, I wouldn't have a fucking thing left to do. Here are a few things I would have to stop doing in order to live longer:
Spend copious amounts of time exercising.
Stop eating meat.
Stop drinking milk.
Stop smoking.
Stop drinking.
Stop drinking soda.
Stop driving.
Find a new profession. (on Oil field locations frequently)
Move out of the city.
Stop fucking.
Put my children up for adoption.
Be a foot and a half shorter.
Never eat salt.
Stop using a cell phone.
Sell all of my guns.
Move to a country with no guns.
Move to country that has never been to war.
Move a deserted island with no predators and mild weather patterns.
Bring a water purification system with me to the island.
Bring a sharp stick to the island.
Bring a a rubber cap for the sharp end of the stick so I do poke myself and get an infection.
It just runs away from you.
FUCK ALL OF THAT. I want to die young. You can live like a fool and miss the wonderful things in life and end up an old used up fuck in a nursing home because your kids can't be bothered to empty your colostomy bag. I plan on dropping dead of a massive heart attack between the ages of 55-65 with all of my faculties intact. My great-great grandfather, my great grandfather, my grandfather and my dad (probably soon) have all died of massive heart attacks aged 55-65. All of them still worked. All of them were happy. They didn't suffer. I live like they lived. I'll die like they died.

You're just exaggerating. Nobody's telling you to give up human convenience and move to a desert island and live like a rabbit in a special padded room. We're just saying that too much red meat is unhealthy. And since you're now saying that you want to die early and unhealthy because of some bullshit "family tradition," you really have no place to be talking about health. There are plenty of people who live longer than that and stay in good shape because they continue to work rather than rot on a couch, aging twenty years after only five years into retirement.
The health craze is bullshit is what I'm trying to convey, not kill yourself on a family tradition of killing yourself.unnamednewbie13 wrote:

Essentially, why deprave yourself of delicious red meat, spend hours upon hours doing pointless exercises, going out of your way and spending twice as much on products that a label tells you are "more" healthy. For what? So you can live an extra 5 years? 5 years more, on the end, a.k.a. the shitty years?
For example, people will drive out of their way to another market, after leaving a market that had everything they needed, to buy organic foods. These foods have no more and no less taste, nutrients, minerals or vitamins than the foods they could have bought at the regular market. To top it all off people will pay 20% more for it. It's idiotic at best.
People argue that cutting meat down or out of a diet is more healthy. WHY? Because it has more fat in it? Eat smaller portions. Because it has two much iron in it? That can't seriously or adversely affect more than 0.1% of the people who eat meat to the point of killing them. It's absurd. Eating to much meat is bad, of course, eating to much ANYTHING is bad, so whats your fucking point? I could sit here and eat celery until I die of the shits. Problem? I ATE TO MUCH CELERY. Your argument literally applies to ANYTHING you put in your mouth. It's just vegan propaganda bullshit.
I'd much rather have my steak and polish it off with a smoke than eat a bunch of shit I don't like and live a few years more in misery as an old fuck.
English! Do you speak it? Nobody's telling you to give up red meat. We're just saying that eating too much of it is a shitty idea.
ENGLISH, DO YOU READ IT!!?? Eating to much ANYTHING is BAD for you!!! Why the fucking crusade against red meat!!??? Your arguement is redundant at best!!unnamednewbie13 wrote:

people aren't arguing against red meat on grounds of bad health, though. nobody in this thread brought up red meat because of its effects on your colon. people said we should eat less red meat - in a thread on animal rights - because it would alleviate pressure on the meat industry. i said people should probably eat less red meat because the suppliers of red meat are a huge source of industrial waste, pollution, environmental ruination, and not to mention animal misery. beyond that, more generally (and more importantly), it was just an example of how we should consume less. i refer you again to the troubling statistic about an american family consuming more than about 8 families in the developing world.

Why bring up people shopping at multiple stores for food? Weren't we just talking about the viability of people growing some of their own food? Hint: it's viable - plant a thing, let it grow, eat it. Where the hell are you getting me telling you to just munch on celery until the day you die? I spent the last couple of posts telling you that nobody here's trying to turn you into a vegetarian/vegan. So what is it exactly that you're whining about? You came here posting an uncensored video of an asshole shooting a horse in the head because you were trying to be provocative and edgy, and now you think that everybody's out for your guns and your sirloin cuts. Get some perspective!Extra Medium wrote:

I regard the posts as attacks because that's what they are. The anti-meat argument has a clear agenda and it is one of animal rights activists and vegans and has little basis in fact. This agenda is disguised in the argument that less meat is "good for you", "healthier" and more "eco-friendly". These ideas and arguments are at best retarded.Uzique The Lesser wrote:
