Are we talking about the same kind of deer?

i'm sorry, but that is fucking retarded, and almost never happens. i come from an area where almost every single road is sign-posted to warn about deer (or even free-roaming sheep or wild boar) and NEVER do you hear about deers staring into lights. a rabbit or small fowl, maybe. deers just run across the road. it has happened to me 100's times. there is definitely no sense in turning off your fucking headlights in case a deer chooses to make its crossing. what happens when you drive around a forested area with no lights, because of deer... is... you hit a stationary tree.AussieReaper wrote:
you don't want to stun the deer on the road as they won't move.Dilbert_X wrote:
Victorians certainly are a funny bunch.
Why the phobia of using headlights at night?
I think it depends on how experienced the deer populace is with traffic. Happens a lot in the US, where "like a deer caught/frozen in the headlights" is something of an idiom. Sporting outlets and auto parts stores actually sell noisemaker deterrents for the animals to mount on the front of your car.Uzique The Lesser wrote:

But turning off your headlights because of it is just dangerous.
You should bring in some North American yetis to control your drop bear population.Adams_BJ wrote:
Wrong, their natural predator the drop bear keeps the hoop snakes in check.
Its pretty easy to fix a wog in the spotlight, while your mate gets the rifle lined up, they're like rabbits in that respect.Cybargs wrote:
wogs are still out there unattended.
I don't think so, and if you don't have any chupacabras they should get along just fine over there.Adams_BJ wrote:
Are they allergic to cane toads?

http://www.milduraweekly.com.au/2013/05 … ity-crash/AN off-duty Victoria policewoman has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of an inquiry into an alleged alcohol-related single-car crash in the heart of Mildura on Sunday night.
The 26-year-old also had her driver's licence suspended after allegedly returning a blood alcohol level of .276 after the accident.
Police media liaison in Melbourne said the policewoman is based in the Western region of the State.
They said a brief will be prepared, and the incident has been referred to the Victoria Police Professional Standards Command.
Unconfirmed reports said the motorist was turning into Deakin Avenue from 8th Street when she lost control of her vehicle, which mounted a kerb and smashed into the concrete seat that forms part of the historic old Chaffey Fountain in the Centre plantation opposite Evolution restaurant and bar.
The vehicle then apparently continued on for some distance before coming to a halt near Mildura Police Station.
Mildura police took the 26-year-old inside the station for a breath test, while the damaged vehicle was pushed into a parking bay off the road.
Police media liaison said the policewoman has been suspended on full pay pending the results of an inquiry.
