BF2S Forums What do you drive?

I'm going to sell my car and get a bike, probably a Ducati.
I think just need to make these ludicrous impractical purchases while I'm still young and can get it out of my system, this way I won't have any mid-life crises and can settle down in some stupid 'environmentally friendly' electric car.

I've never riden a bike before though so that's a problem, and I spun out and rekt my first Maserati in the wet so I'll almost certainly die or get something amputated on a high powered bike but c'est la vie..

Wear a helmet. I was stupid and used to ride in shorts, t-shirt and flip flops but I always wore a helmet.

From what I've been told it's best not start out with a litre bike, start with something smaller like a 600.

I know in Aus you can't start off with anything more than a 150kw/tonne ratio for a bike until you get your unrestricted license which takes 2-3 years.

I've owned a 500 and 636. I don't see a reason to own anything higher than a ~500 unless you planned to take it to the track.
My advice would be to start on a 250 or 500 then upgrade once you feel like you're able. It could be 3 months, or it could be 3 years. Thing is, you can always upgrade when you feel ready - no matter how short the time. You can't always downgrade after you're a paraplegic.
My 636 does 50mph in first gear. Not sure I need to find out what WOT does in 6th.

edito: when Jay chimes in, he'll say otherwise. He had some weird reason to never go lower than a 1000cc. Don't remember why. It's here somewhere but I can't find it.

haven't owned it for long enough to get a good sample size but it's about 40. The 500 did slightly better obv.

my biggest non-obvious advice would be to make sure to get something fuel injected. Carburetion didn't die decades back like it did in cars. ..though I doubt you'd get anything that was carburated anyway - just make sure.

but yeah in all seriousness, you're gonna have to give up the get-the-fastest-possible-model montra for at least this one thing. you're life literally depends on it - or at least indirectly depends on it.

my dad has always had a ducati, Nick. you should have said. personally they terrify me. know so many people who have been killed on them. by far the most terrifying bike my dad ever had was a motoguzzi 1100 sport. you could hear that thing giving the road deepthroat from about 2.5 miles away. Absolutely insane.

Physically too big for a smaller bike, and didn't want to outgrow a 500 skills-wise. Starting on a 500 is good advice though, or like a Honda CBR600.

Some moron rear ended me last night on the empty highway whilst doing about 100mph. Two cars. Two fucking cars on the road doing 60mph and there comes the Yaris. Apparently the driver was sober. Dunno about other substances tho. Paramedics said it was a miracle the other person (still dunno if it was a male or a female, or even, to satisfy Mac, a shemale) walked away. The car went over the grassy and muddy middle field or whatever it is in english and ended up stopping in the fence completely on the other side of the highway. The driver had no seat belt on and the engine was quite misplaced according to the paramedic. It's quite funny how your body and mind reacts to a shock like this. Was on the phone with 112 (euro version of 911) going full speed about what happened before I forget the details. When the paramedics arrived I was completely hyperactive explaining all sorts of things. Then I was taken to the ER with all sorts of weirdos. One of the odd people was Ketamine-Jukka. He wasn't that polite with the staff so they had security come over. Luckily he passed out and was in his own little drugged up world. He also admitted to have taken some speed. Apparently he was found somewhere in a park half naked.

Going to the police station in an hour to give a statement and they probably will give me more details. Got an ambalamps ride yet again after a live set of The Prodigy. Conveniently their last song was Take Me To The Hospital and I bought a mug with the song name on it

Right.... so the fucker is some sort of headcase. According to his own words he had not taken his anti depressant meds in two days. Cops said he was irrational as hell. Blood tests will tell more, but the quick saliva test and breathalyser tests were negative. Gonna get a VW today from the insurance company to drive around with until we get our or a new car.
