Yeah, and it would really look cool for my dating profile.Jay wrote:
Neat. Low pay, lower morale, and you get to fuck with innocent people all day. Sounds like the perfect job for a manic depressive sociopath.
Congratulations, I guess. Jobs like that honestly attract losers. Your supervisors will be time serving morons who will make your life miserable. You'll get constant directions from people above who are trying to advance their career via politics at the expense of the people beneath them. The locals will despise you as a nuisance. But hey, maybe you'll get a photo op with President Trump when he's running for re-election.SuperJail Warden wrote:

In any case, I would be starting at Grade 9 which is 55K-70K, it tops off at grade 15 which is 130K-170k. You can move up a grade a year theoretically.
You get put into the federal 401K with 18K matching, CBP pension in addition to your SS, life time health, dental, and vision. Cheap life insurance and a special death insurance. Tuition reimbursement, student loan repayment, transportation subsidy, and a few other things.
It is a really great deal. You would have gotten straight in after you left the military. Started at grade 11 i think which is 70K starting.
No, they're equivalent.Cybargs wrote:
CBP is actually a pretty important/tough gig. Not like mac is joining the TSA.
Because it's a shit job and I despise border patrol. Conducting dragnet searches anywhere within 100 miles of the border is such a disgusting destruction of habeus corpus. Toss in the war on drugs and the anti-immigration bullshit and you're pretty much checking all my fuck the government boxes.SuperJail Warden wrote:
No they aren't. CBP officers are armed and trained police officers. They are trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia. TSA aren't armed unless you are an air marshal. A CBP officer is armed and can work anywhere in the U.S. aside from just an airport like the TSA.
Jay, why can't you just be happy for me?
No, I don't hate the police. I simply hold them to a high standard because they're entrusted with the use of force. I think they should receive harsher punishments than civilians when they break the law or abuse their power. Instead they rarely get more than a slap on the wrist.SuperJail Warden wrote:
Of course it is a case of you not liking something because you don't think you benefit from it.
You are one of those people who hate the police until you need them. I am sure if a high illegal immigrant ran over your family, you would feel differently.

depends which country you*re in.SuperJail Warden wrote:
That's nice. But you don't have to dismantle the country's entire domestic security apparatus to make sure police don't kill black people.
