BF2S Forums Whats next for the Server Browser ?...

Poor muffin. Those precious 4-5 seconds lost while you wait must be HORRIBLE! Seems everyone has something to whine about these days when it comes to BF2.

No offense...but two responses and none of them offering a well thought out remark.  I agree with most people when it comes to this matter.  Now, I'm not a computer savvy person like some people on these boards, but I'd venture a guess and say that it isn't difficult to create a well functioning in-game browser.  If you think about it, it's one of the most important components of the game.  It's the very tool that allows anyone to start playing the game.  Granted, one can still use gamespy to gain access to servers...but still, a shoddy job is a shoddy job.  The in-game browser wasn't fantastic to begin with but at least it got the job done.  With patches of any kind one expects refinement of the existing product not a degradation.  If improvements cannot be offered, then at the very least, they shouldn't mess around with things that are already in working order.

It only refreshes for me when I fill some of the filters and press update

But if u have problems with it try this:
Click the map name filter field again and press enter, then it should refreshes it

4-5 seconds,a bit more if your looking to play a specific map.

Heres a common event,you find a server click and by this point if it hasn't crashed you should be in the game and ready for action,but wait its full.So you wait while it lags and then you get the full message.After this you have to update server list taking 10-15 seconds for 1000+ servers.Then filter again.

This happens to most people and before you could just refresh but no all those seconds add up to waster minutes which will add up to wasted hours.

Im talking about crappy code..  pure and simple... and on top of that.. it gets worse
the more they 'PATCH' it..

arent patches supposed to FIX things?

Hey, like I said, I like the game, I just think its sad as hell for a HUGE company to put out
such crappy code.. and then their idea of supporting it is to hide away somewhere and issue
patches out of nowhere that make things worse..

Its almost laughable really..

nevertheless, I will never purchase another EA product, their programmers are the markets WORST.

i just use my favorites.
