the greens couldn't run in a town council in brighton, arguably the uk's most hippie and credulous place. if they can't manage weekly rubbish collection and disposal then i'm not trusting them with a national economy.

Green Party officials filed Friday for a recount in Wisconsin, following reports of voting discrepancies, and were seeking a deeper investigation into the election results, which handed the state to Donald Trump two weeks ago.

Wisconsin Green Party co-chairman George Martin said that they were seeking a "reconciliation of paper records" -- a request that would go one step further than a simple recount, spurring, he said, an investigation into the integrity of the state's voting system.
"This is a process, a first step to examine whether our electoral democracy is working," Martin said.

The announcement came as Green Party candidate Jill Stein's Thanksgiving fundraising blitz passed $5 million. The money is well beyond the $2 million mark the Green Party initially set, and Wisconsin party officials said that any additional money not used for the recount would be used to train Green Party candidates for local office. The goal as of Friday was to raise $7 million.

This will go nowhere and the green party is just trying to get attention. It is funny though that crazy Jill Stein is now working on recounts that could theoretically get Clinton elected even though Stein spent the whole election criticizing Clinton.

How does everyone feel about the green party anyway? If the U.S. had ranked voting or a proportional system I would vote for the green party even though they are pretty naive when it comes to national security. i would not have voted for crazy jill stein though.
I like the idea of the party even if I'm somewhere between Libertarian and Liberal so I don't really fall in line with the Green Party.  The Green Party appears to be more where Bernie Sanders would actually fall if he had any interest.  I think it's closer to the European Liberal philosophy than the American Liberal one

Jill Stein made herself extremely hard to market on behalf of her party by openly being an anti-vaxxer though.

If House Speaker Paul Ryan has his way, the 115th Congress won’t just repeal Obamacare, it will dramatically reform Medicare, turning the program into a form of private insurance.

Ryan has long supported the controversial idea and, immediately after the election, he suggested that any Obamacare reform should include Medicare reform. Another key player, House Budget Chairman Tom Price, said Medicare reform was a top priority for the unified Republican government.

President-elect Donald Trump has yet to commit to further privatization of Medicare—which could cause a tidal wave of unease among senior citizens—and a Trump spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment. At a minimum, though, Ryan’s Medicare plans are a topic of negotiation between the speaker and the president-elect.

This is good. Old people don't need healthcare. They voted for Trump anyway.

NBC News has more reporting on Artan’s life before arriving at Ohio State. The teenager and his family left his homeland of Somalia in 2007 and lived in Pakistan before arriving in the U.S. in 2014 as legal permanent resident.
jesus christ. we need just one incident like this to happen when trump becomes president before trump bans immigration from Somalia.

Hillary Clinton’s lead in the popular vote has now topped 2.5 million, the New York Times reported on Thursday. That 1.9 percent margin over President-elect Donald Trump is larger than that of nine previous presidents.
...
On Thursday, CNN aired a segment that demonstrates how the incoming president’s direct repetition of blatant falsehoods is likely having an effect on the electorate that is potent for current and future propaganda purposes.

Jesus Christ. Just end democracy. Let the Chinese come over and run things.

The class of workers who manage the assets and direct work on the behalf of the high bourgeois. Also includes small scale owners of capital such as independent merchants, licensed professionals, and private land owning farmers.

These people are probably just proles who absorbed the ideology of the bourgeois without even making it beyond typical wage work.

I like when she said "if you ignore it, it'll go away." Stopped watching shortly after. What's up with the two dour women squatting in the background like Hamlet's father raided the Doctor Who wardrobe?

well done for copying the first paragraph from wikipedia. you clearly are not familiar with the use of 'petit-bourgeois' in nearly all marxian discourse. the petit-bourgeois are the small shopkeepers and people given a little bit of authority at work – not the warehouse guys but the smalltime supervisors, the overseers, the office clerks – those precisely who emulate and affect the bourgeoisie (the proletariat certainly don't do this). they are not independently wealthy. they may manage the property but that basically only translates to 'are salaried'. they do not own the means of production and they are most definitely not rich. they are only distinguished from the proletariat mass in that they normally have white-collar jobs and enjoy small comforts at work. this (low) level of education and culture makes them think, naturally, they are better than everyone else. it's this mock-bourgeois mentality that leads to fascism (or did so in germany, anyway). a nation of outraged bank clerks and parsimonious village postmasters on the march.

a good expression of petit-bourgeois ideology is poujadism. you can wikipedia that one, too, seeing as rutgers clearly didn't equip you that well.

the people in that video seem pretty much to be classic examples of the snarling, acquisitive, bigoted, fake-respectable petit-bourgeois. mealy-mouthed little fuckers who think they represent 'commonsense' and 'virtue'.

Anyway, I can see why rural voters are angry at the people on the coast. All of the media companies are based out of NYC or LA. Liberal sites constantly talk about how great Hamilton is. That is fine for me since I can take an uber or get on the train to go see it. But for someone in Kentucky it must be annoying since the only chance they will ever see a broadway show is on DVD or PBS. Half of the stuff advertised in the New York Times they couldn't afford if it was being sold down the street.

Still doesn't justify them cutting all of our throats by cutting Trump though.

If this site is going to devolve into four years of Macbeth whining about Trump it's going to be so lame.
