Well it could be worst. I'm sure for some people the thought process is akin to 'Now that we don't have a black president we should really respect the position and support Trump.'

imo people complain when there's protesting because people are stupid and self-centered. there's been protesting in this country since forever. keep it peaceful, don't fuck up any body elses day, etc. When I began to challenge her why we should make it easy for Trump to move towards aims we find objectionable, she began to yell that I was picking on her and my dad
My mom has done the same thing when I've gone against whatever she thought was right. I'm not sure if anybody complaining about millennials being the easily offended has ever met a baby boomer.no joke, yelled "this is really upsetting me!" Fuckin' baby boomer snowflakes.
apparently my parents are the most easily subdued people in the world.
My parents are vaguely liberal but generally apolitical. I don't think I had a single political conversation with either of them growing up. My brothers seem to have followed my lead.

Both of my sisters and my mother voted Clinton. My dad voted Trump. Only because he hates Clinton. I gave up trying to reason with him about it. His arguments eventually break down to "give him a chance" and "there is nothing you can do now".
He is a white baby boomer who voted twice for Obama and said he would vote for Michelle if she ran. So I don't think he buys into the MAGA thing. There is just something about Clinton that turns people off. That's one reason why I don't think this MAGA thing is a mass movement as much as Clinton being a fuck up.

I really haven't either before this year, maybe a bit with my dad. My parents could so readily be low-information Midwest Republicans who just go with the flow. They're not terribly interested in political news or discussion, but seem to change with popular opinion on things like gay marriage. My dad caught a bit of the gun fever, but says a lot of the people on a gun forum he frequents are crazy. My mom is especially fond of the turn of phrase "I'm not racist, but [something racist]", but she also is very understanding of others once she actually meets and interacts with them. I think because my siblings and I are somewhat more in tune to news and discussion, my parents have resisted the Republican shift to the right. Though being on Facebook hasn't helped as they aren't the most critical of random information from the internet.Jay wrote:

I have to say the women's march both terrified me and made me ponder. The extreme feminists, the types that want to completely sideline men (especially white men), really make me feel alienated and fearful. This in turn, I think, helped me to actually understand their points regarding misogyny. A lot of them have felt sidelined and slighted (sometimes rightly, sometimes imagined) because of their gender and I can see why they would take up their position.
I mean, I absolutely despise them because two wrongs don't make a right, but they do make me feel like speaking up to blatantly misogynistic men. Misogyny is not cool. I never thought it was cool. And if the alternative is empowering these angry freakish feminazis, I'll happily step on some male toes. I'd rather exist in an equal partnership. It's what I strive for in my marriage, and what I think we should strive for as a society, while also recognizing that there are actually differences between the sexes.

Weren't you in a war? How can a bunch of women complaining make you fearful? They aren't coming to chop your penis off.Jay wrote:

Is Jay going to need a trigger warning when a post is made about equality?
I agree, they've fucked up the whole debate, and education system, in Australia, and the American ones seem ten times worse.Jay wrote:

But congrats you've elected an arch-misogynist in Trump, so there's going to be a reaction.
Fuck Israel
In fairness to Jay, Clinton was definitely planning to put white men and libertarians into FEMA death camps. She was going to order 66 so many Trump supporters someday.
Fuck Israel
Anyway
Sore winner. Some people think this is going to be used as a pretext for pushing through laws making it harder to vote.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/pos … 6#commentsDays after being sworn in, President Trump insisted to congressional leaders invited to a reception at the White House that he would have won the popular vote had it not been for millions of illegal votes, according to people familiar with the meeting.
Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that widespread voter fraud caused him to lose the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, even while he clinched the presidency with an electoral college victory.
Two people familiar with the meeting said Trump spent about 10 minutes at the start of the bipartisan gathering rehashing the campaign. He also told them that between 3 million and 5 million illegal votes caused him to lose the popular vote.

The idea of being completely sidelined because of something outside of my power sucks. I don't like feeling powerless.SuperJail Warden wrote:

Speaking of which, I see Trump surrounded by five other men signed an order reimposing a ban on government support for international aid groups that provide or counsel women on abortion services.
I don't think the women's march was exclusively for women and didn't seem to be anti-men. It's just that when people like Trump are in power women tend to bare the brunt meaning any backlash against it is going to be led by women.

The Mexico City rule is a social conservative thing, not necessarily a Trump thing. I doubt he even knew it existed before November 3rd.Ty wrote:

It's not a paranoia thing, it was a moment of empathy while watching news coverage. Like damn, I'd be pissed if I was in that position too. I wasn't implying that feminazis are coming to cut off my penis, I was saying that I'd rather we all move towards an equitable power arrangement based on meritocracy rather than sex or race. Signs putting down white males, the patriarchy etc piss me off because they are extremisr views that divide us. They make me want to fight back rather than help.SuperJail Warden wrote:

And yes, there are a few feminists who have expressly stated that they think men should be locked away and only be used for sperm donations. They should be pilloried.

the women's march is not a sign of militant third-wave feminists coming along who want to eliminate men.

Well there's a bit of a spectrum, and the abortion order was after the march wasn't it?
I'd be more concerned with the jews trying to bring about the end of the world than misandrist women waddling around yelling stuff.

Fuck Israel
love the enraged constitutionalists
But isn't nice to once again have in the White House:
A fiscal conservative who plans to cut taxes, raise borrowing and spending
A free marketeer who plans to cut free trade and increase protectionism
A libertarian and self-made man who plans to ring fence and increase spending on the largest socialist workfare program in the world - the US military
A staunch constitutionalist who plans to ignore every aspect of the constitution
?
Still, 'the people' voted Republican, they should know what to expect by now.

I hate him as much as the next guy but those are very general statements you can make about political view or affiliation.
Trump believes millions voted illegally.

The Islamic State was first declared in 2006. Obama was only in the Senate for a few month by then. Tricky bastard works fast.uziq wrote:
