There is no such thing as the Alt-Left.
Of course there is, its just they don't like that term.
Alt-Left isn't a blanket term to describe the fringes of the left. Alt-Right was a self-ascribed moniker to refer to the fringes of the right that coalesced around Trump. You can't just say the Alt-Left is the left version of the Alt-Right. That's not how it works.
I think illegal immigration is a slap in the face to immigrants who go through the proper channels. That is more an indictment of our out of date immigration policy than a knock on people who don't go through the proper procedures. I think anyone that wants to move anywhere should be able to with a clearly understandable path to citizenship in their adopted home.
We should have a guest worker program with Mexico and Canada and then pressure Mexico to not let central Americans cross the border into the U.S. Make the slots available to Mexican guest workers dependent on the number of deportations or some other way of counting their success and commitment.
It is the best fix to our system but won't happen because large portions of the right want immigration halted period. There are plenty of dummies who can vote but can't sit still in a classroom so a guest worker program will drop their wages. There is also the alt-right people who are upset they can't get white women to date them and want to spread their misery. Good Republican leadership in the white house could have marginalized both groups and got something passed without spooking Democrats and moderates. Cruz, Rubio, and Jeb! had the legitimacy and competence to do so. But the GOP wanted someone who made them feel good about themselves and we all are stuck with what will be a lost half decade or worse if you count from the 2010 midterms.
