No, it's morons like you why we have Trump. How many hate-filled comments have you made here regarding people that live in rural states? You live in the armpit of America and you're acting like that makes you superior to others. It literally makes you superior to no one. They hate you. You hate them. This is effective? You talk about big national unifying projects you want undertaken. Why? You give no shits about unifying this country. I seriously can't believe anyone allowed you to teach kids. My already low opinion of teachers in general has been lowered by knowing you. Congratulations?

My beloved Midwestern friends, at least you go blue sometimes and lately. You are clearly better in every way to the people who live south of North Virginia but north of Tampa. Like the southwest, I have high hopes for you.

Anyway, would you guys be willing to chip in for an emergency vacation for Jay and his wife to northern Florida? He sounds like he needs to get away from here and relax a little. As his best friend on bf2s, I want to make that happen for him.

Why would I want to go to Florida? I just got told I'm working from home until the end of the month. I'm gonna take this time to add a deck to my house.

Wouldn't you like to try all of the pizza places of north Florida and south Alabama?

And why doesn't your house already have a deck?

Why isn't your basement finished? That should be a first before getting a deck. Do you have a pool yet either? You need a pool if you are going to get a deck installed. You can't host BBQs on your new deck if you don't have a pool to entertain guest. You don't want to be one of those families who have a volleyball net set up in the backyard for the kids because they do not have a pool.

Figure.  Multiphase Turbulent Gas Cloud From a Human Sneeze
A 2020 report from China demonstrated that severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus particles could be found in the ventilation systems in hospital rooms of patients with COVID-19.5 Finding virus particles in these systems is more consistent with the turbulent gas cloud hypothesis of disease transmission than the dichotomous model because it explains how viable virus particles can travel long distances from patients. Whether these data have clinical implications with respect to COVID-19 is unknown.

Jay really blew half a million dollars on a house without a finished basement, a deck or a pool in an unincorporated suburb that has poor schools filled with illegal immigrants from Honduras.

Jay, you might as well have moved to Queens.

You're right, the tit for tat between "rural America" and "everybody else" needs to stop. To that end, I suggest mollifying the red states by having the government bankroll mandatory nipple-to-electrode conversion therapy for gay America, and then bend over backwards for every one of their subsequent demands about how other people should live their lives.

I have a pool. I do not like finished basements. Basements are for mechanicals and storage.

Do you not do the same back to them? I know you have a personal vendetta against the religious but, despite what you've been led to believe, not everyone that votes Republican is a Bible thumper. In fact, I'd venture to say they're only slightly more religious than your typical Democratic voter.

No. I don't have a personal vendetta against the religious. I don't care if they go to church. I don't tell them what church to go to. I do care if they, among other things, want to inject creationism into the curriculum as an "alternative scientific theory," and then howl "persecution!" if someone raises an eyebrow.

And yes I am aware that this doesn't represent all Republican voters, etc. etc., but it was an example of the sorts of attitudes that are being pandered to.

I know it upsets you if people outside the US have an opinion on the US, especially if they make good points. But let me explain, I care because:

1. I worked in international environments, keeping tabs on US policies was a part of my job. 2. I worked there partly because I like keeping myself up to date with what's happening in the wider world around me especially with regard to transnational issues, I mean my postgraduate was in international relations.. 3. European countries are influenced/affected to greater or lesser degrees by cultural developments in the US and its political direction in global issues. 4. There are few self respecting democracies where the political situation is as fucked up as it is in the US. It warrants some close attention. It's also like watching a trainwreck in slow-motion.

By the way I haven't lived in Belgium in a long time. Though I'm happy to see that even without a government (or for now an emergency minority government to deal with corona) Belgium functions better than many other countries.

I read media from several countries in several languages. NONE are positive about Trump. Even the most right wing publications that like to sometimes publish an article that supports some of his viewpoints avoid mentioning the guy the majority of the time, especially now. He's an anomaly and only in the USA bubble is it even possible that such an incoherent and crass individual has any political support at all. Christ even his European equivalents (Orban for example or Le Pen) are at least reasoned, predictable and somewhat eloquent.

The fact that you consider what I wrote 'liberal bias' is frankly hilarious. Incompetence that is literally killing people is staring you in the face yet you let it slide. What has the guy done right???

America has spiralled down into a pit of ignorance and stupidity, we shouldn't care but we're going to need to impose sanctions until they give up their WMD programs.

Meanwhile Trump is threatening 'retaliation' against India unless they hand over drugs which don't work and aren't approved.

It's just old. You hated Bush, and you gave Obama a Nobel before he even sat in the chair. You hate Trump. If another Republican is elected after Trump you'll hate him too. It's all as predictable as the sunrise. You think you're being insightful but you're not. Your opinions are predictable and reflect what you see in your own biased media sources.

he just said that the entire european media, from left to right (and that encompasses a MUCH broader spectrum of political opinion than america, regardless of what you take to be the 'far left socialists' in the centrist democratic party), all pretty much feel embarrassed about trump. not even right-wing populists and demagogues in europe are fond of citing him -- bad optics! trump is looked up to by the putins and kim jong-ils, i.e. the rulers of tin-pot (or proof vodka) dictatorships.

Regardless of their political leanings, your media is extremely snobbish. They see themselves as intellectual gatekeepers of the keys of government and will do their damndest to keep the non-elite out of power. Obama was seen as "one of them" and was embraced. Trump is not, even though he has the educational credentials.

Don't kid yourself that your media represents anything but their own class. If they were broader representatives they might not have been shocked by the Brexit vote.

jay this whole rhetorical line you've been taking in the last year or so is just merely stupid. it's philistinism. it's anti-intellectualism. it's 'we've had enough of experts'. frankly the adult world is tired of your puerile rebellion.

what educational credentials does trump have?

what parts of the UK media were shocked by the brexit vote? you mean the majority of it that were pro-brexit?
