Guide to being an effective VoIPer
I just finished some pretty bad games with some pretty awful squads... and had to write up something short.
Some of you may thing that VoIP is useless and that in-game actions communicate themselves better than words but that's where you're wrong.
The most EFFECTIVE squads are the ones that communicate, not stay mute and go off doing their own thing.
Here are some tips if you are a squad leader:
- As a leader, you'll be voicing the most.
- Main things to communicate: Which flag to attack, analyzing other squads movements and based on your decisions, choose to aid other squads or divide up by sending your squad to another flag.
- TALK to your commander, ALWAYS ask them to blindspot a suspicious area for you such as flags or over hills.
- Ask your squad members to spawn as certain kits depending on the situation, if you're being hammered by Armor, go hide and tell your squad to spawn as AT if they die.
- Coordinate your squad by telling them to hide here/there, run here/there. For example, if a Tank is being repaired by crates/engineers/repair-vehicles, TELL your squad to spawn as AT, hide, and then coordinate an AT VOLLEY (Fire all AT at the same time to compensate for the repair). Many times I have seen crappy squads of AT kits that fire rockets in succession but the armor gets repaired by the time the next rockets comes. A coordinate volley is the best sign that you rock as a squad leader.
Here are some tips if you are a squad member:
- Do NOT voice out everything.
- Your main objective is to aid in radio command spotting, and acknowledgements. Please don't clutter up the squad channel with everyone talking at the same time.
- LISTEN to your squad leader (If he is competent).
- If you get critically wounded (ie. revivable), your VoIP still WORKS. Relay info to your squad about who/what/where/when killed you.
Here are some tips if you are a commander:
- Commanders get make/break a team.
- Not being too experienced in commanding myself, the only advices I offer are that you monitor your squad movements and do alot of blind spotting.
- My god, for the love of everyone, PLEASE do NOT spam the blind spotting, ONLY blind spot where squads are going (for instance, blind spot a flag if a squad is approaching there).
- Relay info through VoIP about armor and where they're headed (blind spotting can only do so much).
