Your children are suburban new york middle class going to private schools. I see conflict with your progeny in the future, they will almost certainly grow up to be liberals who vote for AOC and Bernie. Maybe they'll even want to follow degrees in the arts. I can see one attending a school of music, no future prospect but waiting tables, as the father toils away designing ever more airconditioning units and sprinkler installations to foot the bill. In old age you will either succumb and convert because you love your child, to become a liberal yourself, or eternally lament that your offspring became all you despise. Woe is jay. You must leave the NY suburbs, fast! Before it is too late.

Congratulations on having a daughter

Jay went to private school on a scholarship since his step dad was a janitor at the school. He got a fairly decent education out of it and there's no shame in that.

hopefully the second generation will be able to clear away all those unreconstructed blue-collar views about 'academics', 'experts', and 'gay' arts.

a second run should definitely be able to clear SUNY maritime, at the very least.

Nah, not a janitor, though that is the same description my asshole father used to use to insult him, so kudos, I guess.

that biographical detail does explain the san andreas fault on your shoulder. you have my sympathies. being the free-ride kid at a private school is pretty merciless.

You know how you always like to quote "a little education is a dangerous thing"? You have a degree in reading and you argue with literally everybody about everything. You defer to no expertise but your own, and possess none. I'm sure you've read or heard about The Death of Expertise and I'm sure you nodded along and thought about all those dumb people that are constantly wrong and constantly arguing with you. The book was written about people like you, dude. You have no breadth, and little depth, and very little life experience off the prescribed track. What do you have to offer anyone aside from the aggravation stemming from interaction with you?

And it's not my turn to babysit you today. Don't expect free entertainment like you got from larssen yesterday.

I think we've identified whats wrong with America.

Just think, if people didn't spend beyond their means they might be able to elect a government which could do real things.

Do you prefer a ranting befuddled old man over a befuddled old man?

How the fuck are these the best two candidates America has to offer?

The correct term is "engineer" I think. That's the title my district uses for them since they do do more than just clean up. They are responsible for fully maintaining the building.

Usually nice guys too. I respect the work they do.

It's interesting that Uzique is forgetting basic facts about Jay that I remember him making fun of him before for. It's like he has early onset dementia from cocaine abuse.

Yeah, they co-opted the title, which is annoying, but whatever. Superintendent. He was responsible for running the buildings and grounds department on a 40 acre campus with enough buildings to support around 900 students K-12. He had grounds keepers and painters, and custodians, and handymen working for him. It paid the bills.

we aren’t all autists writing some bf2s chronicle. i don’t recall jay’s entire biography. the level of detail i have is weird enough.

yes, early onset dementia when i’m conversant with the history of western literature. come at me bro.

don’t anti-psychotics cause forgetfulness and problems with short-term memory loss? lmao you really pick your battles.

lmao. rock vs rock. git paper

it only deepens my astonishment that jay is 'mr self-reliance', 'mr anti-handouts' and 'mr wide range of experience in life'. i thought relying on the military for education and direction, as well as an entire post-service career, was bad enough. turns out he's been biting the hands that feed him since the humble age of 10. it's really too much. next we'll learn he was raised in a state orphanage.

He is doing the right thing by putting his (???) kids in private school. Private school education is really only useful for K-8, the more formative years. Private high school is a waste if your kid is a fuck up or derp by 14. When it comes to NYC, public high school might actually be better than private. My cousins who graduated from public high school in the Bronx finished with associate's degrees. One of them is a special education teacher working on her masters at the same age I was derping around Rutgers undergrad. Meanwhile the local Catholic High Schools in my area that are connected to Catholic Universities don't offer associate's degree for high school students. $20,000 a year Catholic High School tuition and all you get is a high school diploma. That thing is barely useful at all.

a girl on my team at work is from manhattan, went to a public high school there. i can't remember the name but could find out. she seems very bougie. sent to england for university, including master's and PhD. we were all shocked when she described the way people there all wear like pyjamas and casual clothes to school. our 'good' schools make you dress like a victorian.

an alarming number of bf2s residents were home-schooled. including war 'you can't say amen you're atheist' man.

Yes but really that is a weird practice in itself. Very few schools in continental Europe have these dress codes let alone 'boys schools' and 'girls schools' or the large amount of boarding schools you have in the UK. These are antique educational norms, get with the times.

I would consider making home schooling illegal. It seems the sort of thing only helicopter parents crave.

IIRC homeschooling as a movement and not just a practice has its roots in post-World War 2 Christian conservatism. People didn't want their kids to go to schools where there are gays, blacks, and no prayer. But they also can't afford private school like the upper middle class so they created the home schooling movement.
