This'll be fought tooth and nail and given Trump's personality he will never let go of the narrative that a Biden win with such margins is due to election tampering. Even if the margin is larger, he'll still claim it was fraudulent.

however, once again polling was pretty massively wrong. people who were hoping for 4-5% lead and an inarguable victory have been badly found wanting. even with a democrat president you're still in for 4 years of grinding deadlock in congress.
i would have thought that the ineptitude and casual scandal of 4 years of trump would have given biden a comfortable lead. especially in this final act, with trump catching covid himself out of sheer recklessness and blurting his way through it. but nuuup. it's actually been insanely fucking close.

I suppose many of the polling counts just don't have enough penetration in rural, remote and/or poorer communities. OR there's a lot of people not willing to share their voting preference, disproportionately Trump voters.
In either case it just leaves you with a sense of disbelief to see so many people cheerfully egging on a pathological lying PoS to be their president. If Trump were actually competent enough or had more time, he would systematically dismantle the democracy until nothing would be left but a bureaucracy and political class consisting totally and only of people with unquestionable loyalty to him personally. as i said above passim, the culprit is the new online 'information' ecology. conspiracy theory, hate speech and polarizing rhetoric are the norm. huge social media sites and 'news' aggregators like facebook have effectively been operating in the same sphere as journalism/publishing for the last decade, but without any of the laws or regulations that are applied to newspapers and news sources. they've been beholden to no one except their business model.
