Is there still a lot of enmity between the English and Irish? I know you took their language, land, nationhood, and future from them but are they still that upset?
many irish people are still very pissed at england. the troubles and violence in northern ireland were your parent's generation. 1970s and 80s. your favourite peaceful religion was bombing hotels and shopping centres within colour-tv memory. irish republicanism has never gone away and there's still a big political base for it.

we've been in lockdown for 2 weeks, which appears to be working. what wasn't working was arbitrary closing times on pubs and restaurants and other high-risk venues. it's a stupid economic compromise that has no epidemiological sense whatsoever. covid doesn't clock in for the evening at 10pm.

We haven't had a covid case but honestly I assume its because almost no one at work cares about the virus enough to get tested if sick.

I'm getting tested again on Tuesday before I go to Thanksgiving with the family. Luckily most of us work remotely or not at all, but it's still something I'd rather not attend.
Thanksgiving is probably going to be the super-spreader event of all time.
