Recently I havent been playing much BF2 because my 6600gt would let me down on occasions. So I kinda stopped playing but I decided to get a new card to play it with, so I put my 6600gt in the box and sent it away by ebay methods.

Meanwhile I still needed a graphic card to run my computer so my dad looked in the trash and found me an "nVidia MX 400" no this card can just about play counter strike: source on low with a 640x480 resolution (lol). Also whilst im waiting for my new card to arrive I here about the new patch 1.3, so install the incremental and realise I havent even tried playing bf2 yet with this card :p so I start bf2 get the "black loading screen" looks like its going to start up but just clicks back to the dekstop. I think "ahh dont worry probably the card" but then I look on the forums and it says that EA/DICE f*cked the incremental again.

So then I think that could be it, so I downloaded the new patch (full) and re-installed BF2 and SF, then I applied it succesfully but still no luck in starting.

So the KEY question: Is it the patch and my computer OR just this graphic card MX 400

Err.... What?!

You'r wondering if you can play BF2 on a Geforce 2 card?

You do realise the shitloads of people (me included) who were disapointed/pissed off when it was discovered that BF2 wouldn't run on the popular Geforce 4 cards?

Geforce 4 > Geforce 2

Get the new card and try again...

Disclaimer: They might have added something in patch 1.3 that would make the game compatible with geforce2 cards!

GeForce MX cards are very bad...

You need atleast a 5700 to play this game or it wont even load up...

Its definitely the card.  My laptop will do the exact same thing if the NVidia card is not activated via a tiny switch on the front panel. Wait for the new card and you'll be good to go.
