I support the plastic bag ban. Whenever I don't have a bag I just suck up the 10 cent fee. Plastic straw ban I don't like. Paper straws aren't practical.

I remember a lot of back and forth between plastic and paper bags. Plastic's worse, no we found that paper's worse, no actually plastic is objectively worse, please save our planet and take a paper bag. If you weren't with the times with the latest findings, then you looked like a Captain Planet villain in the checkout line when asked "paper or plastic."

I feel like someone announcing they plan to implement a new system 2 years from now is actually planning to not implement anything at all.

we've been trying to transition to a web-based CRM since 2020. One of our c-suite execs fell for a phishing scam that resulted in a ransomware attack that put our company down for almost a week, so that delayed pretty much everything IT/MIS-related.
I tried to get our MIS team to build me some distribution software but my business case was denied. I ended up paying some local college kid $3000 to build a simple one from scratch. The guy who denied my proposal was demoted from a VP to an assistant to a VP. Fuck him.

If we went behind ITs back they'd probably get mad.
There's 5 IT guys for the entire company, MIS is a different team and have no idea what they do.

How much of a pay cut would you take in order to WFH forever all else being equal?
Usually wfh jobs are the better paid ones
why would one have to take a paycut in exchange for WFH? are we not all doing the exact same responsiblities and making the same amount of money for our 'modern, digital' companies?

In order to remain open during the current one week lockdown, which they did, my genius GM redefined the company as a hardware store, even though there is literally no aspect which could remotely fit the description of a hardware store. Nothing is sold from the site, we don't make consumer hardware etc. Hardware stores being able to remain open in case people need to make emergency home repairs.
So apparently I work in a hardware store.
Although actually I took a week of WFH and some time off. Someone should have reported them, maybe I will next time.
