there are repair services that can fix metal frames using soldering. it won't be as-new, obviously, but it's a quick fix that i need.Dilbert_X wrote:

i'm aware of the mark-up on glasses frames, it's not exactly an industry secret. luxottica have cornered the market with insanely high mark-up prices.
but you can solder and weld glasses frames. there are businesses for this. and the service typically costs 10-15% the value of the frames. i could find an online service for this easily but i don't want to deal with the international shipping and korean customs. their process makes my head hurt and i'd have to pay large processing and customs fees, to boot.
what is unlikely is getting a free replacement frame because of wear and tear. that's the first thing to be ruled out in just about any warranty t&c.

It turns out that since late May-ish, Michaels (art/craft store) has decided to up its mailer to up to 3x messages a day, and recently from an additional Michaels SALE. I don't shop there often. I've bought paints, markers, pens/pencils, and the odd picture frame. I've never ordered anything online. Who in corporate decided it was a good idea to, out of nowhere, suddenly flood people's inboxes (even if seldom-checked & throwaway) with this visual clutter? Each message pocked with 1-3 emojis, frequent use of all caps, and formatting like "On. Sale. Now!" Did someone learn this in business school? It got my attention, yes, but only to go to their website to check their "please stop" box.
