There's probably about a thousand charities I'd donate to before even considering to give them a dime. All that food and wealth and they still have poor, hungry members and lavishly outfitted buildings that could easily be community centers through most of the week, stay unoccupied through most of the week.

It's probably not good to go into a marriage purely with a cynical "what do I get out of it" attitude. Totally reasonable when considering which church community you might want to be a part of. A church isn't going to be your partner or share existence anywhere remotely on equal terms.

Consider first if you couldn't just try and be a better person, stay humble, and so on. Prayer through action, not words. If I was a god listening to all that lip service, I'd regard it as dismissively as all those empty "thoughts and prayers" knee-jerk comments on social media.

Having your spouse convert (even if symbolically) is a heck of a condition to impose. I know people do it to keep the peace in the household and/or witwh the extended family, but there's something wrong if it needs to be done to keep the piece.

I don't think you'd enjoy Mormon church. It lasts forever, and there's meetings and after-meetings and "could you do this" and "could you do that." Don't you get irked if a kid wastes five seconds of your time in class? Could you sit politely every Sunday listening to sub-Instagram grade sob stories about finding God, of dubious sincerity? I would have to detach and pretend to be a bored psychoanalyst.

So do you remember how I told you how my coworker left her boyfriend of 8 years in order to move in with her old boyfriend? She moved all of the stuff from their place slowly until she finally decided to drop the bomb on the guy that they were no longer together. She explained how D-Day went.

I expected the guy to respond angrily. Instead he started screaming and crying over the phone. "The screaming was so loud (new boyfriend) could hear it from the other side of the apartment." Well that is an unfortunate situation.


I guess the whole situation was very traumatic for the guy. I never thought how hurtful the stuff could be when you are on the receiving end. The internet porn I have seen doesn't make any of that clear. This clearly isn't a game.
