Yeah I didn't understand that since he is a NJ guy

I had my MAGA assistant get Spring Break decorations. She could only mostly find Easter ones. Explicitly Easter.

I still put up the decorations and my students helped. They got community service hours helping decorate the classroom.

The politically correct "winter break not Christmas break" and "spring break not Easter break" is out of the window. If admin ask me to take it down I will but I doubt anyone will say anything.

I was joking with the juniors who were helping put it up. They were much more "it is Easter! What even is decorating for spring break?"

i've always liked hearing about holidays off the beaten american path. but i remember coverage and even library material on that stuff was sparse. it's so weird for me to hear people complain that we spend too much time honoring "foreign holidays?" bro, you start retail christmas in july.

the holidays aren't christian, though, they're literally all euhemerised customs from pagan times. it's not as if some strange middle-eastern custom has been adopted in the rural shires: the main christian calendar days of the year would have still been celebrated in a more or less identical pattern of life in pre-christian times. animists and pantheists placed big significance on harvest days and equinoxes. shocking, i know!



i bet it was a really tough sell explaining to dark ages tribes in western europe the concept of resurrection and hope in spring.

i think americans just get cranky over ramadan because seeing other people dieting triggers them.

Or at least riddled with camel fleas.

I'm not saying Arabs are dirty, they're not, I'm hoping Trump gets bitten to death by camel fleas.
