You may have noticed EA held a "create a wallpaper contest" recently for BF2.
Yeah its not a bad idea, but I think they should of had a create a map contest.

The few winning maps then can become official BF2 maps, and because EA didnt spend time making them, they could dish em out for free.

The maps would need to be tested I guess, but there are plenty of good map makers out there. It would also beat the hell out of the crapy wallpapers that were made.

Didn't VALVe do something like that for HL2 DM and Counter Strike Source? A map contest?

Yes valve did. An valve has shit loads of official and god knows how many custom.

A fiar few maps from CS:S are actually made by some map maker and Valve decided they liked em and suited them them up and made them official, Like de_nuke and cs_assualt
