Just think, if Japan could reduce its population by 65% it would have the same CO2 emissions as Australia.

it's amazing that you still and repeatedly cling to this type of statistic with no grasp what it actually implies.

what you're in effect saying is that the teeny weeny nation of australia, a sunburnt pimple on the ass of earth, consumes as much resources as HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of human beings elsewhere. which evidently puts a very high valuation on your own life/way of life. why do you have the right to consume more energy per capita than 99% of the rest of the planet? is it so important so that you can sit on your ass doomposting on the internet all day?

if total emissions are what matter, why do you place so much stress on individual lifestyle choices? you are effectively being a martinet and a taskmaster over forcing people to sort their plastics for collection every wednesday while new giant open-cast mines are opened every other week in the back-country to continue enriching your government.

the argument you keep resorting to, 'we need far less people', fully accords with your neo-malthusian, eugenicist bullshit. let's not actually examine the obscenely higher-than-average level of luxury you live in, the wastefulness of the suburbs, their unsuitability to the present century and its problems – let's not be honest at all, let's instead wave our hands and say 'there are far too many brown people and 700 million of them need to disappear in order to keep my conscience clear'.

obviously over-reliance on per capita statistics distorts the picture. but you don't seem to have any notion that we are all in this together and have to figure it out somehow. and suggesting a third of the human population painlessly and bloodlessly vanish is even less realistic than all the STEM tech-futurist boosters' claims that some new invention will magic-wand the problem away. not smart, actually !!!!

exponential population growth? it's pretty funny how much you've harped on and on about korea and japan's industrial policy – of which my involvement and contribution are a gnat's fart in a typhoon – and now you're moaning again, like a lost little malthusian in the wilderness, about ... exponential population growth? my guy, korea and japan famously have the lowest birth rates of anywhere on the planet.

in the next 2-3 generations, most of those countries will reduce in large number. how's the population trend of australia going, by the way, with it's world-beating consumption per capita stats? the world needs a whole lot fewer australians. don't worry about japan's emissions, they are very much taking care of themselves.

and again, we're back at the obvious point of stating that there *are* too many people if everyone is aiming for *your* standard and way of life. suburban sprawl with 2-3 family vehicles on the driveway is *not* exportable to the entire developing world. and yet here you are raging at hipsters who live in dense inner cities and walk and cycle everywhere. you better hope all the human beings born in the rest of this century file into apartment blocks in cities, dipshit.
