What do you guys think of community college courses? I am thinking of doing a course on professional grant writing writing + nonprofit management. You get a grant writing certification at the end. 12 month program.
Maybe I can start a nonprofit that does something. I can't think of anything I really care about. I just don't want an average life.

they have their place. depending on the course, the prof could be the guy who knows a guy and gets you in with some company doing whatever. i know a few who wrote reference letters for their students.

Newbie and Ken, you guys have done hiring before. Do you think it would help with positions? I think it would definitely be useful to the NGOs I deal with but I don't know if it would be truly worth the commitment.

i suppose it depends on who you're trying to impress, how experienced they are, what they're impressed by, and if anyone actually gets around to reading it. sometimes stuff doesn't even have to be relevant to wow.

it is really too wild to me that we just let some weird nerd destroy one of the main forms of communication globally, just willy-nilly, because he felt like it and could round up enough leveraged capital from banks and rich saudis.
twitter is so broken it's unfunny. 'genius musk'. the main feed hasn't been refreshing properly for the last 2-3 days. i'm getting random adverts now for the weirdest shit – just the lowest-quality advertisers on there, the absolute dregs. i shit you not, every fourth tweet on my feed lately has been for 'decorative winston churchill bookmarks'. as a genuine 'forum' for public discourse, as he kept bragging about, it is comically dead.

Certificate shows you're staying up to date with industry regulations and requirements. At the very least it would give you a leg up on anyone applying that doesnt have the same cert. Grant-writing skills are always sought out in the NGO/charity space. I remember a charity I was volunteering with was always looking for help in their grant writing, to the point where i was helping a 20 year old girl tidy up her proposals.

why? because musk significantly reweighted the payouts from X Premium for indian users. a lot of indians were spamming/botting/gaming the system. a weird thing, in fact, is that lots of the 'white supremacist roman avatar IQ eugenics enjoyers' accounts were quietly ran by indians. high engagement in the west = $$$ for them. now musk has rebalanced the payout system so that western influencers are not sharing their pile with tens of millions of pseudo-hitlers in new delhi.
the whole thing is an abominable clusterfuck.

I have to pull rank with my classroom assistant and explicitly explain we are not doing any board games and other stuff the last day or days of school. The classroom will not be a place for students to hangout the last few days.
The last few days of school the building is empty as the kids just come in, sign in, and then leave. Very old tradition. That gives the teachers time to clean up their rooms or often just hangout and bullshit. I like to hangout with the other teachers my age. I don't want to spend the last few days hosting kids.

The guy I shared a room with last year really pissed me off when we had 6 girl students in the room when the rest of the building was EMPTY. I told him that we shouldn't have anyone in the room at this point and he got upset. Later I am on the other side of the building hanging out with teachers my age and he calls me on my phone to tell me there are students in the classroom. (A) There shouldn't have been any students at all. It is his fault they are even there. (B) You couldn't watch the kids while I hanged out with the people out age?
