Usually I am one of those "rioting doesn't solve anything" types. But if ICE can't operate in major cities without heavy support due to organized opposition then that greatly weakens the deportation efforts. Spread the federal government too thin and hope that internally it starts to crack like Syria.

That said I think it is more likely the opposition is salami sliced into bits by Trump. Even among subs and groups that should know better and are themselves under attack there is a lot of revulsion to conservativism. For example, in a Pan-Asian American sub you get post like this "A Lesson in How Not to Protest."

There a bunch of "No Kings" protest Saturday to coincide with the military parade Saturday. I am planning to go to one in Jersey City. Get to see what the "resistance" is like.
I don't think Trump and many of the people around him realize how risky putting soldiers on the ground in major cities is. People will probably say I have Trump Derangement Syndrome for drawing parallels between the Syrian Civil War and the LA stuff but the situation in the Levant shows how out of control things could get once a only a handful of soldiers decide to switch sides. And of the thousands now being sent to LA, there must be at least some who fantasize about changing their lives and the world.

My MAGA assistant said she thinks the people burning the flags should be killed in all sorts of ways. She specifically wanted them set on fire. I am not sure if she has ever seen someone set on fire. I have seen videos of children burning from American bombs before. I doubt she ever seen that before.
She started going on about "My father served this country in World War 2. He fought for this flag..." I was like "Both of my grandfather's were forced to fight under that flag in the Korean War. My dad was in the army and..." She then just said "You know what let's just agree to disagree."
Then everyone clapped. My other MAGA assistant told her that she was being over the top and then slid out of the conversation/room when the first assistant was talking about electric chairs.
Also, interestingly she mentioned "People from Saudi Arabia [burning the flag.]" I think she purposefully avoided talking about setting Mexican Americans on fire because I may have reacted more poorly to it.

i think most of the openly- or borderline-maga people i know would disapprove of flag burning, but along with the vets, would agree that it should remain legal. worst punishments listed on wiki where this is illegal gets you some combination of prison and fines, and sometimes they don't even bother to enforce.
the flag code is fine. stuff like a flag burning amendment is hogwash and a bunch of performative patriotism. maga would cheer for republican politicians displaying the israeli flag in their offices. i hope construction workers keep hanging el tricolor at their job sites and bringing them to demonstrations. speak spanish wherever the fuck you want. it's only 'bad optics' if you're trying to impress people who will never be satisfied with just concessions.

Yeah, I am done with trying to appeal to patriotism with MAGA people. They have explicitly made clear they don't consider large swaths of the country to be legitimate citizens.
I like seeing the Israel flag as much as the Palestinian one. I feel like both flags are used much more as hate symbols than symbols of identity.
