i am a sucker for those big cinematic ambient tracks! widescreen, hi-def. saturated synths and oodles of reverb and shimmer. give me all ya got!!!
Fuck Israel
bristol, 2011. oh what a time to be alive. honestly such an incredible, incredible time to be going out to clubs as this was all emerging.
without question, seeing them live in the mountains of japan was the musical highlight of the year -- if not the decade for me, considering it's been well on about 15 years between their first and second albums.
i like about 15% of his stuff, the more techy or jungle stuff. i don't really like typical dnb sound where it relies on the same 3-4 'upbeat' drum patterns.
also generally very mild on vocal samples in dance music. easily becomes cringe/corny.
that song above would make a great closing/winding down track after the end of a techno/140bpm set though!

would prefer to run to something upbeat like house music. (a) it's better at that vibe, more varied tonally, and (b) it's not fucking 165bpm. how fast are you running my guy?!
met and spoke with this guy at the same mountain festival. he's the real deal, super humble and down-to-earth guy. teetotal too afaik. just a total head for his music.

that's a good clip. i would be out of puff in about 3 km and crawling home.
by the way, this dnb/jungle mix was posted today by the headliner from that festival (dozzy from voices from the lake). noticing a theme here? i'm still not over it ...

10k is basically my min run distance now, by the time I get to the river and have no more roads to cross I'm at a 5k loop, don't run every day though. Plus it's fun to run 15+ miles on the weekend and eat everything.
Enjoyed the mix mostly, started tuning out after an hr in a think. Not what I listen to normally but would like live. Not much live around here, Rusko was here recently but dnb and even dubstep are not big scenes locally. If I drive 45min I can get grassroots jungle.
I don't have much house music and don't know why I didn't get into it like dnb. Second song I really like though, could run to it. Genre wise my collection is labelled via discogs by album so my "House" section is mostly one song on random non house focused albums.
In the past Camo and Krooked would not have been my favorite artist but at this point I listen to them the most between running 10ks to their live sets and loving their orchestra sets. Nearly booked a flight to Vienna just to see this.
