I have elected to not make eye-contact and smile weakly, I find this works well in most situations.

I want to delete my assistant.

She is an older Republican in her 60s. She sounds just as fun to be around as you think.

I got dressed up this week for several things I had to do while at work.

She comments that "Macbeth thinks he is a big shot now." "Macbeth has something important today "

She is also rude to and about the lady teachers that I talk to.

One of them comes to my room for help with something and she stares us down like we are doing something wrong.

The best assistant I ever had was an older Egyptian man whose English wasn't great. He was a principal in Egypt but just an assistant in the U.S.

He never created more work for me. When the one substitute teacher I was dating came by, he would quickly leave the room through the backdoor to give us privacy to talk. We never fooled around in the room. Smart enough to not do that. But he still gave us the space we needed to just talk and relax. He never asked questions or made a single comment. And he definitely never talked politics with me or complained about anything. A good man.

AI Is rapidly filling my workday, people proudly announcing they used AI to do whatever the fuck they do.

My idiot colleague sent me an email, "Hey, I used AI to generate fourteen pages of slop, please incorporate into your five page procedure"
Yeah, no not ruining my perfectly concise document with drivel you didn't even read yourself, thanks.

A dept manager of a parallel department proudly produced a single PPT slide for the all hands meeting which was one continuous paragraph of semi-useful factlets which filled the whole page, completely unreadable.
"Uh yeah so just go ahead and take a minute to read it, great stuff"

This guy really needs to be pensioned off, he's spent the last three years organising a house build and either doing that or talking about it.
Could not walk past his office without seeing him slouched in his chair on his mobile 'Ooh yeah, you're thinking marble effect? What kind of marble effect? Greyish with a bit of colour? Could you send me a sample?" Literally all day. Then he'll repeat it verbatim at the coffee machine to anyone who gets stuck "So then I said "Greyish? Does that make sense? Shouldn't it have some colour to match the bath?" etc.

That and he's spent the last 40 years managing the department according to principles which were obsolete in the 1970s, ie let everyone do what they want and don't worry about it because you'll retire eventually.
