Its not really all that complicated. It plays like field hockey in that you have players across the field to pass it between. Kick it between the two posts in the middle and you get 6 points and the ball gets returned to the centre for both teams to compete over, kick it between the outside posts and you get a point and the other team then receives the ball and plays it from that end.
If someone kicks it more than 10 metres and you catch it on the full then you are protected for a short time to find someone to kick it to or to play on, if its kicked within 10 metres or 'handballed' to you then you just play on with no protection from being tackled. If the catch is close enough that you can have a shot at goal you can take more time.
