It tells you how much karma has been given at that topic....
If I give you -1 karma now, it would say:
What is the meening of the this? (K:1) after the topic title (K:-1)
If I give you -1 karma now, it would say:
What is the meening of the this? (K:1) after the topic title (K:-1)

that 1 karma point has been given in that topic (K:1) K:0 is 0 karma points and K:-1 you get the picture
