i was using 512mb of ram to run BF2 and today there i ordered another 512mc to get to 1GB, will this make any difference? if so how?
It will help the game run a lot better, Pity it won't help u SEARCH the forums better!!!!

the big difference is from 1- 1.5
made a huge difference when I did the same exact thing.....but also can depend on your other components. Smoothed out the game for me - less lag and "chop". When I went from 1G to 2G I did not see much of a difference though. Did you get matched ram? I have seem other people have problems mixing brands/models.....timings can be different and can actually slow you down...
yes, speed, loading times and lack of map stuttering when in-game
as previously said the game is happy with 1.5gb (seems to be the sweet spot for bf2) 2gb is ott but just gives it some overhead

It should make a noticable difference, keyword "should". Could depend on just how good a machine you have to begin with. I added a full gig to my old machine which started out with 512, and the only thing it did was make the game load faster. I still lagged like a mofo though. Good luck with that shit. Only time I noticed an unbelievable amount of difference is when I bought a whole new pc.
When you play BF2, take a look at task manager.
You will see that BF2 takes up around 1.5Gb or memory.
You want as much of this as possible to be in ram rather than pagefile [the pagefile is your hard disk pretending to be ram].
If you upgrade from 512 to 1024 that is a big improvement, and you should see the results in game.
Most people have said 2Gb is best.
They are correct, as if means that all the game data can be loaded into ram.
It depends on your budget.
Hope this info helps you out.

I have 1GB soon to upgrade to 2GB, 1GB is too slow, because I do a lot of photoshop.
just go upto 1.5, its nearly the same for bf2
yea i got the exact same, from www.crucial.com
settings on 'high' with 1GB = horrible performance
settings on medium with 1GB = no problems
Although it is cheaper to upgrade by adding another stick of 512, I would have bought one stick of a gig so you can upgrade later without problems (all memory banks full = problems, particularly with AMD processors.)

I have 1 gig RAM 2x 512 mb Crucial DDR2 SDRAM @ 533mhz and the game runs fine. All settings are on high cept lighting on medium. Theres a little lag for a few seconds at the start of a round but it goes right away and then it runs perfact.SargeV1.4 wrote:

I've got 2x 1GB DDR2 Crucial, and 1x512 DDR2 PNY and it works like Jack Bauer on heroin SWEEEEEEEET AS!
I have a total of 2 Gigs of RAM - 4x512 Kingston and the game loads damn fast

so, is 1.5 good then? i was told its crap.
I use 6 gigs of RAM.......4 in my pc.......and 2 flung in a corner on my desk. I think those extra 2 are key.
