The m249 is best due to its rate of fire and 200 hundred round mag. It may ahve lower damage but the rate of fire makes up for it big time.

i agree the M249 SAW is very good but i really wish the RPK-74 was an unlock that gun i way better then any other support gun in BF2
The challenge of CQC is that no matter what gun the enemy has, he can kill you. Every gun can hit the enemy in CQC. Not every gun can kill at a range. So it doesn't become a game of who has more power and accuracy and who can land the most shots, but who can shoot faster. the PKM is at a disadvantage here. So even if you land all your shots to kill your enemy, he can weild something as crappy as an MP5 and still have enough time to kill you first.ComradeWho wrote:

i go against people with PKMs at close quarters all the time and I gotta say.. my landing five shots at close quarters vs them landing two or three to kill me with the PKM isn't pretty.. anybody's odds against a PKM are better at longer ranges where those few bullets it takes to kill you are less likely to hit and my gun with it's rapid ROF is more likely to hit more often.
