Ok, this week I built a new machine and I'm having all kinds of problems. One of the problems I get is the loads server to the "join game" button and then crashed out to Windows. I've seen in here that many people are having that problem and it seems to be 1.3 releated.

Another issue I'm having seems to be related to my connection. I get really bad lag and get booted from servers with the message "You have been disconnected from the server" and I'm back in the multiplayer menu. Since this is a new PC, I'm not sure if it's the 1.3 or something else.

Also, I have a dual core processor and I've heard that can be a problem. I've installed the Windows XP hotfix for it.

Please help!!!!

Well EA has caused all sorts of server issues with the last patch.  Getting booted from the server seems to be a pretty universal thing.  (I use Skype to talk to my friends in my squad, and we all get booted simultaneously...we think the entire server crashes/stalls and drops everyone)

I experienced a problem with dropping when clicking the "join" button when using the Rise of Kobol mod for BF2.  The fix for the Mod's problem was to set video settings to medium or higher.  I know this isn't really the same problem you're experiencing, but they are similar and tweaking your video settings is worth a try.

also try searching the forums for similar fixes.  I know a recent thread where someone experienced better performance by simply playing in windowed mode (weird isn't it?)

EA's glitches are weird and have even weirder solutions, good luck.

Also here is a link to a tweak guide.  Don't know if this will help you, but it does contain several useful tricks to get around some of EA's blunders.

edit: look at badhq's stuff first.  I think you'll find some answers

Hey, you have a dual core, like me. Go to the AMD site and look for their latest dual core drivers for the XP version you're running.

I used to be constantly booted out of games (Even before 1.3) because of some issue with my own dual core machine.

Thanks for all the help.

I rolled back to 1.22 and everything runs perfectly. I tried some of the suggestions about how to upgrade to 1.3 and it is still unplayable either way.

I guess I'm done with BF2 until 1.4
