First Vs. Master SGT.

I searched, but couldn't find the difference between 1st and master sgt (except one is higher). My questions is this- I need knife to have all basic badges. I am about 250 points away from ranking up. Should I try to get that knife badge, or not bother? Do I get 2 unlocks if I have it? (I know if I don't, I won't get 1st Sgt, but what is the advantage?)

I know thats kinda confusing, but english is my first language. OK, it's my only language.....

you do not get any extra unlocks
the only advantage is that you get priority over commanding

try and get the knife badge.... 1st sgt looks better

When you rank up you will get the same unlocks etc that you would get with or without yr knife badge.

As far as I know the only advantage that 1st Sgt would give you would be if a 1st Sgt & a Master Sgt both went for Command, so it's up to you really!!

for mastter sgt, you get a higher rank and thats it
for 1st, you get 2 ranks and 2 unlocks

I don't think that's right. When I hit 50k and got 1st sgt I was missing my air defense badge. I got 1st sgt, finished the round and went to another server a bit later and sat in an aa turret. Toward the end of the round I got master.

master sergeant is the ultimate noob indicator. it means you suck so much you cant kill 7 people with a knife.
master gunnery sergeant is the second biggest noob indicator. second because not everybody wants to spend 15 minutes in a transport to get their basic badge. otherwise it means you cant fly or use a tank well.

ok since you guys are idiots...

gunnery sergeants will be promoted to EITHER first sgt or master sgt. you cant be promoted to either from the other. if you get master sgt, you cant be promoted to first sgt if you get all the badges u need.
first sgt needs all basic combat badges for the kits, basic knife combat and basic pistol combat.
master sgt doesnt need any badges.
at 20000 points, if you dont have the needed badges, youll get master sgt. otherwise, first sgt.

master and first sgt can be promoted to either master gunnery sgt or sgt major. EITHER LOWER RANK CAN GO TO EITHER HIGHER RANK. master/first sgt without all basic vehicle badges (armor, jet, chopper, transport, aa, ground) will get master gunnery sgt. master/first sgt with all basic vehicle badges will get sgt major.
if youre a master sgt, you do NOT need the basic combat badges to get sgt major. if you really hate the sniper kit, you can still make it to sgt major, but youll have to live thro master sgt first.

sgt major and master gunnery sgt both promote to 2nd LT.
sgt major of the corps isnt used anymore or something, so ignore it.

THIS INFO IS 100% CORRECT. dont try to confuse newbs by saying master sgt cant be promoted to sgt major. IVE SEEN IT HAPPEN. You have to agree with my post, or you're a noob kthx.

MGSgt is nubbier than MSgt IMO. Knife badge is a lot harder to get than sitting in a vehicle for X amount of time.

I had all basic badges in August. That's right! When I was a Lance Corporal or Corporal, can't remember.

Master Sgt means that you didnt take the time to get all your badges before the 20,000 mark which by then you should have had them. First Sgt means you did get all your badges that you needed. Thats the only difference

When i was a First Sergeant, I had all the badges ready for Master Sergeant except the Basic Armor badge.

I had 50,052 points, and hadn't ranked up yet so first thing I did was grabbed an unused APC on Fushe, drove out under the bridge, played guitar for 10 minutes, got my award and then waited for the round to end. Next game, one point and yay Master Sergeant lol. That's how vain I am.

I hate too disagree with you but getting 7 knife kills in a round is nothing, i received my expert knife badge back when you needed 30 kills in a round to get it, same with my pistol i will say that im very disappointed at the in round requirements being dropped as it means it takes nothing to get those badges now.

Or not, I'm stuck at Master Sergeant because of EA's dumb screw-up. I had Expert knife before I reached 20000 points and I didn't get first sgt because I got my basic and vet at the same time and didn't recognize the basic one. So your assumption of the Master sergeants being the "bigest noobs" is wrong.

Funny; I want to make it to Master Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant...

But Im locked in getting Sergeant Major becuz I put my self in a jet and sat on a saw gun while commanding before I realized I wouldnt be able to make Master Guns...

Flying and using emplaced weapons isnt really my thing...

I never play as Sniper, Medic and Anti Tank or Support; I have all the other badges...
