You know, snipers take a lot of heat from people. Everything from them not being man enough to fight face to face to them being lonewolves and not being enough of team players. This much is true. I'm not here to defend snipers or anything like that. The reason for this thread...
...sniping is fucking fun.
I've logged over 700h on this game and I'm really starting to tire of it. I used to play for hours and hours each day. Now I think I've played for maybe five hours total in the past two weeks. However, when I do play, I only play as sniper. It is easily the most fun I've had playing BF2. There's nothing like being able to keep enemy helos and jets on the ground just because they fear you and your trusty m95. There's nothing like finding a good sniping spot and going 40-3, having those three deaths come after you killed a support guy and were in desperate need of ammo, so you ran out into the open and got artied/bombed/tanked/knifed in the face.
It's funny. While I was going for my WCR I was consistently the best team player on my team. I'd chase down entire squads going for the TV station on Sharqi when everyone else just figured someone else would take care of them. I'd stay and defend the factory on Karkand because I knew that eventually it would come under siege. My points per round suffered greatly, but we won almost every game. Now I am probably the worst team player there is. I go out, find a good spot and commence the face-shooting. There's nothing more fun than killing a guy, then having him search the spot he thinks you are, only to kill him again from a different spot. Then go lay claymores in both those spots and run away, watching him blow himself up twice in a row.
Anyway, this is to all the snipers out there. dont_be_ss, Nyte, Tahadar, Books, all you guys...I may not be as good as any of you, but God damn is sniping fun!
