ok, yes i see that they do have claymores that can be triggered like in BF2. and although a good majoriy are not like that, they do still make them so it is plausible.

but they are NOT indestructable or smart (as you have stated) which is as annoying as hell, but that is a rant that has already been stated.

Well I might be being stupid but I thought the sniper had clays for denfence, covering your back.
But im not going to moan when I run into one, happens alot, but then you run into the sniper and get your revenge, unless they are really good(only bumped into one who falls into this class) you are more or less assured a kill.
Snipers are just another class, im  a crap sniper and I dont look down on people who are better at it than me, infact I think they are mad for running about with a sniper rifle sometimes.

A good sniper moves around two much in this game for it to be a good defense.  Once in a while you find a spot that you will be in for a while but only if you are in view of an active area, as soon as the fighting has moved else where you move too.  Better to save the clays for taking a flag or keeping someone from following you once you have been spoted.

I have nuffin agianst snipeing but i would have to say that snipeing is probably the only valid form of spamming in this game!

but then does that make it spamming at all? i dont think so you can choose how to play this kit whichever way gets you the most and if it means claymores on flags then so be it just puts a bigger smile on my face when i eventually track down and kill the dude!!

you certianly aint gonna charge around assualting positions with it are you!!

thats how i snipe.  granted i dont do it very much, but the majority of the time that i do snipe, i follow around my squad as if i was any other kit.  counter-strike style (so im told, tbh, i havnt played a whole lot of counter strike)

I must admit, I think Claymores are a bit overpowered, since you can't just shoot them even if you see them, and they have ridiculous range, but snipers are hardly the worst offenders in the game.  At least you actually have to know how to shoot as a sniper, and as people have already said...the best snipers are those that actively move about, since after a few kills in one spot, people are bound to come back for you.  I think the worst scum are easily medics and support.  Medics have the best assault rifles in the game...the L-85 has a great scope and a one shot head shot kill, and the G36E has almost no recoil for an assault rifle and is deadly accurate.  And if you don't kill a medic in a gunfight, they can heal!  AND heal others, since shock paddles cure a bullet to the head.  Unless a vehicle comes about, medics easily have the advantage in most situations...they can get points by healing, reviving, or just killing since their guns are unparalleled.  Support gets points soo easily as well, with "ammo giving,"  and let's face it, the PKM and the MG36 are so good they're cheap.  With the medic and support guns having such great stats, there's hardly a point in playing assault unless you're really good with a grenade launcher, which constantly gets nerfed, or just love flashbanging people...and I do.

noobs + sniper = fun for me. noobs + snipers x claymores...
Personally I barely use claymores- i have about 5 kills with them overall. Just proves how shite a sniper is if you see them doing that. At least now they can only place a couple down at a time.

Just checked and about 15% of my sniper kills are with claymores

If I take a flag as a sniper, I'll cover the entrance points with them.  I can't use those rifles well in close quarters, and point blank, I can't pistol whip someone fast enough.  those claymores help me take a flag.

Most of my claymore kills are from covering a point that's difficult to watch for approaching enemies.  IMO, this is what a claymore is for.  I don't even stay near them....just drop them to guard my team and head off looking for a good spot to sit for a few kills before moving on.  Claymores are just a tool I have, and I try to make sure that I use both of them before I die.  Nothing wrong with that I say.


Typically, I'm not killed by claymores more than a few times in a 2 hour gaming session.  I've only been playing SF lately, and try not to touch Karkand (no L damit!) or Sharqi anymore, so maybe that helps cut down on the noob issues.  The only place I see a lot of them is in the Palace on Warlord, but just like when I see lots of mines, I switch to engineer and disarm every one of them I can find.  I think you should get points for that!


BTW, I'm a lousy sniper, with less than 30 hours with that kit.  I've recently started using it again, and I'm getting better.

A few nights ago, on Warlord, we had the insugents backed into just the palace.  I got bored with constantly trading those palace flags, so I switched to sniper and found a good spot.  I lived for over 15 minutes like that, while eating almonds and covering the roof and mounted guns from long range.  Got several kills and seeing as how I hadn't played sniper in a couple months, renewed my interest in strategic positioning.

snipers are great, eh tbh its take some skill to be a good sniper, i dnt use claymores much ataw. plus it beats spraying builits, or using the shotgun, grande launcher so a dnt see the problem with a sniper. although its your own fault for getting shot by one, you should be able to properly scan your soroundings looking for a sniper, so u can take cover or relocate, tho a guess only us snipers do that withought thinking about it its kinda natural if your a hardcore sniper. ok my rants over so im sure all take a beating on this one, long live the 5n!p3r5 3l!t3

My only beef with snipers is when I enter a map (I try to stick to 24-36 player servers), and half the damned players are snipers.  It's no fun for me then.  YMMV of course.

Just got -1 Karma for my earlier post... not sure why to be honest. I don't think i said anything that could offend. i have a 8.somethingruther KDR with claymores, and have yet to set one in an enemy spawnpoint. so dont go bashing the kit cause you had a bad run in with a few stat fags.

I just finished my 100 hours of sniper a few weeks ago, and I made sure I put out every claymore I could.  It's just a smart thing to do.  They're great for covering you, and should you have to take a spawn point, they help out a kit that isn't meant for close combat.  If I'm not using them to defend myself directly, I try to use them to cover those paths the lone wolfs like.  It's nice to know where your claymores are and know that some player is pissed that they took the slow hidden route only to die after a long walk.

On the flipside, I don't die from claymores very often.  Maybe 2-3 times a night, which is far far better than any other weapon in the game.  Maybe it's all the practice with the sniper kit teaching me to watch for them, but whatever the reason, I don't think I've had the same problem with claymores that some folks have.
