Squad leaders should be able to not only communicate with their squad mates and the commander but they can also communicate with other squad leaders. Also there should be a "zone" area around the player while he is talking to his squad mates that other squad members that are not in the same squad can hear what he is saying if they are within the "zone" hearing range. It would help great in vehicles and would increase teamwork on foot with other squads. How realistic is it to be a pilot on a gunship and not be able to talk to your co-pilot and point out the enemy by verbably doing so when he is sitting right in front of you when he is not in the same squad as you? A patch of this needs to happen sometime in the near future.
great idea i hate not being able to talk to other squad and having to let the CO relay it.
B for squad speak
v for commander speak
c for vehicle speak?
v for commander speak
c for vehicle speak?
I wish. We NEED a vehicle speak. Badly...Kommando wrote:

Nice sig, by the way.
Make it easier with less buttons involved. It goes like this.Kommando wrote:

B for squad and in the "zone" speak a.k.a. vehicle speak
V for commander and squad leader-to-squad leader speak
this idea needs to be emailed to EA and DICE for a future patch.
If I recall right in Operation Flashpoint in multiplayer one could talk to people in your approximity, in the same vehicle or over radio. Atmosphere on black op mission really rose to another level when everyone was (for some unknown reason) whispering trough voip
basic idea of vehicles and squads is, that the team in a vehicle is a squad, thou be able to talk, it doesn't makes sence, members of different squads meet in one vehicle. it's easier for a commander to coordinate his squads, if he got his vehicles, one or all, in one squad reachable with one key.
IMHO what would make sence, if the command channel would be hearable by all squadleaders, they won't need a new channel, just open the existing one to all leaders

getting the game to automatically put those in a vehicle into a squad would give a lot of people the shits. what if there are locked squads?
i like the idea of a "Command Channel" hearable by commanders and squadleaders but it might get a bit congested in a heated game. im sure youve seen those games where there are 10 squads, imagine them all talking at once. it would work, this is probably the most plausable idea for inter squadleader speak.
i still think there should be a separate 'vehicle speak', although the location speak would cover this nicely, unfortunately a problem would exist if there were more than one squad in the vicinity and they were squad speaking. the layered communication would drown everything out. but BF2 already handles this.
Actually location speak would be a great idea, because then the group you are with at the time would act more like a squad, say you need to alert them to where an enemy is, or where they should setup defenses...
i really like that idea.
get ventrilo, its better quality and you dont have to be in a squad to talk to eachother
jeez, id hate to be in your squad.r00fus wrote:

Proximity voice would be nice for those in vehicles, and for telling teammates to move away from a C4 blast radius. Most of my TKs come from guys standing next to ememy trailers and artillery.
Hey we use teamspeak and the native VOIP. I agree that the squad leaders need to talk so that you can work together to take a flag it is so much easier to take a flag when you have a squad to cover you until you clean out the area and trun the flag grey then you switch. That is so difficult when you can't talk to te other squad leader. An open commander channel would get to much chatter the Commander would have a hard time to relay commands. The envelope idea would work the best because you would not have to use a third button. It could be and 20m bubble around each squad leader once inside that bubble it would be an open channel for just the squad leader to talk on, then when you hit the key to talk with your squad it would mute the open channel. Now this would be great to have in the game, but lets face it most squads don't play in a way to utilize it.
