It worked for me. Server list is dodgy but I use my favourites anyway and thats fine. I haven't tweaked any files by renaming them etc and I keep my PC for gaming (I have another old one for everything else) so there's no shite on it...

It does take longer to log in though...maybe another 15 or 20 seconds but I can live with that.

Is it literally a case of nobody having re-started their machines, therefore, it's your own fault guys.  Or is it a case that they've stuffed up the incremental... or as I suspect (since the primary UK EA Forum for BF2 has been locked (Because of the expected high traffic due to the iminent patch (WTF!!!! FACT:  Aside from new 'additions' , ie. car drops, rank/medal/ribbon requirement changes, etc.. they've
made the server browser EVEN WORSE. 

I know at least 20 friends who have patched, all of them same problem with server browser..
Reading posts here, same thing.. numerous complaints...     

I could care less about rank requirement changes, ribbons, etc etc etc, NOR do I care about car drops..

EA has never finished this game... its been in beta testing form FOREVER. We are all the paying beta

I did the incremental, it bails all the time.  I'm backing up my whole bf2 folder and going to apply the full patch and the run diff against the two folders.  I'll let you know if any files come up different, and if it fixes the problem for me.

EDIT:  First difference so far (note, at no time had I touched this file myself):

This is going to sound really stupid but I cant remember what BF2.exe was before I changed it! Can anyone help me? Ive tryed everything else, and all im getting is CTD.

Yep! Incremental works fine. However I have problems with joining squads even when I'm alive...

Personally, I'm not too sure if EA are to blame. The latest nvidia forceware driver (84.21) has caused me untold problems, and I reckon somehow thats got something to do with it.

Only because it seems members don't like what I said earlier (via negative karma), let me try putting it in a nicer form.

95% of problems are related to user error. If I patched 3 machines, and they run fine AND others in this thread patched their machiens and they run fine; I'm pretty sure those using the incremental and it failing IS a result of user error.

As stated earlier, patches aren't a matter of clicking  "Next, Next, Next - - - Finish".

The same guy who needs every ounce of FPS increase, and modded/changed numerous game files to achieve this; his incremental patching caused problems . . . Hmm . . . I wonder why . . .

EA posted a community update yesterday, they recognise its an error on their part and there most likely going to distribute a hot patch. Looks like they will try to roll it out under the radar through the game hosts themselves and see how that goes before they decide there will be a 1.31

My point was, in fact, supposed to show that most software never gets past a beta testing format, since bugs are being continuously fixed with patches and the like - and i was using Windows XP as an example of such a piece of software, as patches are released very frequently, and that makes all the users of Windows XP paying beta testers. Maybe you missed my point - is that clearer?!

Just received the following from the UK EA Forum Moderator for the official EA UK Site... Enjoy... Byt the way, the post subject was whether there would be a fix for the V1.3 patch.  Looks like they were thinking of a fix pretty soon after release.  Hope this is of use folks.

I in no way take that as a hot fix 1.31 coming out soon.  Sounds like fluff, like the "check is in the mail"!

I among others have not had any problems installing the incremental patch, the game works fine for me, and have little complaints.  All you cry babies need to learn how to fix your own machines and not blame EA for every little thing!!!

I have not had any problems with patch 1.3 but in the other hand i have like lag problems, the server crashes, losing server information like i.p. banner these are problems which EA 1.31 should fix its not a long wait just sit it out.

What is it with all this. I downloaded and installed the incremental patch, and have so far not seen any complications with the game. Quite happy about it though, since I already had enough problems with my PC to deal with .

Although, now that I think of, most servers in the server browser don't show info like rounds per map, and friendly fire. Will this be fixed if I download and install the full patch? Or is this a common problem which lies at the server side?

I don't know what to believe anymore. a few days ago (after patching down and back up to 1.3 full) i FINALLY got the "join game crash" to stop. It's been all good since then......untill yesterday. out of the blue crash n burn, restart, crash n burn. it happened like 3 times. Finally i got into a game so i stayed there and didn't switch.

I installed the incremental first, but after having many server browser problems, I used the full patch. After that, everything was fine. Not a single CTD or disconnect since, and the server browser works pretty ok, only occasionally not displayed correct ping (saying it's 7569 or something stupid). Now that I've tempted fate I'll probably have loads of problems =\

I'd just like to thank whoever was resposible for the following for such constructive criticism.  It's people like you that make these boards so worthwhile.  I will of course accept the criticism in the manner in which it was intended and never again start a thread which has any chance of helping people having problems with their game.  It's true, I'm just a whinging little baby with no ability to help myself and blame EA for EVERYTHING.... oh wait... I built my computer myself... it's VERY high spec... and if you'd read half of my other posts on this site I've already said I FIXED my problem and posted how!  Please PLEASE give me negative karma again for even suggesting that you might need a magnifying glass to find your penis.  May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits you stunted, myopic, festering boil on the face of humanity.
