I like BF2, obviously, but it isn't perfect bug-wise. This post is about bugs not game balance.

Should we tell EA that we will not buy 2142 until they fix BF2?

Will 2142 have the same bug-nauseum patch cycle?

Maybe they figure if they make it bug-free we will not buy the next game?

Or is it impossible to deliver a bug-free game?

One thing I know for sure, if we keep buying broken stuff they will keep selling it.

Good idea, may go the same way as the boycott did though... nowhere

Exactly, but you will never get such a mass following that will listen to you.  It is a lost cause and EA is just exploiting it.

I will not lie, I am going to get BF2142 because overall BF2 is still fun and so was BF1942, most likely BF2142 will be fun even after the glitches that it is most likely going to bring to the table.

Interesting proposition.  One would HOPE that they learned from BF2 and will do a better job play-testing.

However, as there are so many new types of ply in 2142 (Mechs, Titan Mode, Pods) there will certainly be glitches & goofs.  Playtesters tend to play game as it "ahould" be played.  They do not anticipate someone trying to wall glitch.

So, while I hope your idea would work - I doubt it will.

The problem is there are thousands and thousands of people playing one finds a glitch then he tells a friend then everyone knows. But the fricken join game crashing bug that is retarded and totally dice/ea's fault.

It seems just as hard to deliver a bug free post.

Im all in for not buying 2142, but I don't think it will get through their heads quite yet cap.
Someone should make a petition like the one for bf2 patch 1.3 and state in it no money spent until you fix bf2 and maybe then they will start working the way they should, let's be honest here red tag bug is still here and it has been with us since game came out how the fuck did it go unnoticed to them ?

I have over 1000 hours played on this game (and yes, I have a job, go to school. etc.).

I will NOT be buying 2142. Battlefield 2 is a good game, it just needs a few bug fixes. What pisses me off is that instead of fixing some minor things that will improve gameplay (like the red tag bug), they give us the vehicle drop.

"OH LOOK! I CAN DROP HUMVEES ON PEOPLE NOW! WHAT WAS THAT PROBLEM WITH THE GAME I WAS THINKING ABOUT EARLIER?"

So instead of fixing the game that most of us know and love, they drastically change gameplay a number of times. (1.2 patch, 1.3, etc.). Remember the PKM sniper?

And do some beta testing before releasing a product. I was in game for all of three seconds when I saw that the server viewer was broken. It was like playing tag with the server I wanted (kept jumping around). Also occasional crashes when joining game. and sometimes the whole server goes down for no reason 4 or 5 time in an hour (and its one of my favourite servers, so it must be a patch issue, since it never did this before) They tested this patch for what, a month? FIRE YOUR FUCKING TESTERS AND DO A BETTER JOB.

In closing, stick it up your ass EA, this $50 will not be going to you.

lol....an adage that predates Darwin I bet

Please refer to the Creation vs Evolution threads elsewhere in this forum. The answer is yes!!!  The tiger changes it's stripes when the environment or its predators force it to change to survive or become extinct.

I would say its pretty much impossible to deliver a bug free game. The telling EA we wont buy 2142 wont work either. Over 1 million copies of bf2 sold, im sure there not worried if they get an email with a few thousand signatures.

Atleast they attempt at fixing the game,
When you fix one the reality is your creating new bugs.
I cant fault Dice/EA and wont because they try fixing their products.

Are they fixing it because they feel bad or responsible? Or because they are required to?

I don't fault anyone personally at EA/Dice(insert any company name actually) in the programming group. There are some brilliant people there. I do fault their processes and design paradigm and management/marketing for taking advantage of a hungry public.

This ain't world hunger I know but that should make it easier to solve, don't you agree?

A boycott has happened before and has worked quite well.... That would be extremely cool to make a worthwhile rebellion against EA and Dice lol

Even old Red Alert 2 has bugs, but there should be no bugs added via patches.

You are right on about the million copies. We could never get a million.

I think maybe about 50,000 could hurt them, but not by boycotting purchase. You buy the game, install and play it. If the game is bug-nauseum then return it for a refund. The cost of return, handling, refund administration and other overhead will equal profits from maybe 100,000 purchases, 10% from total sales dollars will toast their stock for a short time.

Would they hear that?

P.S.
Bug-free maybe not the absolute goal either but, for example, TK punishment and a redtag bug in the same game for a year with server kicks or bans as an ultimate possibility for some people???   lol no way.  Longer, broader scoped beta testing is needed with a smaller ratio of sycophants in the beta plan. The bugs that effect significant aspects of the game must be caught in beta.
