The teamkill and punish system

I posted in another topic that it's an automatic -4 for a teamkill, and that punishing does nothing to your score, it only goes towards getting kicked. People thought that was wrong, so I just conducted a little experiment

Heres the scoreboard, notice me starting at -2.....some team damage or something....but I START at -2. Note the guy standing in the backround

Heres the scoreboard, IMMEDIATELY after I teamkilled the guy. I shot him, and pressed tab, then screenshot button in like .000001 seconds.

Here he is lying on the ground dead. He punished me about 10 seconds after I teamkilled him. (Was all planned out)

Notice the scoreboard before I teamkilled him says -2, after I teamkilled him -6, after he punishes me, -6

Some servers its 4 and some its 2. Just deppends on the server. Hate that crap.

I think the point was that if you punish someone it doesn't effect their score.

But thats not even the point of the system. The way it is set up is that if you get the server set limit on punish's you get kicked or banned. (Server decision)

I was on a server where I got an additional -4 for TKing....so -8....ran over someone with LAV while leaving the USMC base on karkand, I get punished, -8 (I looked)

I always thought that you get -4 or -6 or whatever and if they forgive you then you get 2 points back, if they don't then you stay with that score..

i once ended up wit a score of -17 and -13 teamwork score because kept driving infront of me when i was about to take off and they kept punishing for tk's which were there fault.

Excellent ... but you need to tell the idiots that run/drive over mines, run in front of vehicles, walk directly into line of fire.... well you know, the list is almost endless.
Most Tks are accidental, I don't think anyone (proper gamer), really wants to do a TK ... I certainly don't.

There should be a way of 'punishing' those that do stupid things... but that's probably somewhere off into the distance.. BF2000 perhaps

but there's also something that makes this all the harder to accept for people: teamdamage before the teamkill.

I've accidentally ran over someone in my Abrams, and i got -6 because i got two team damage warnings, then the teamkill itself.

i kno that if i run over a mine by mistake or somethin happens and it was by mistake i forgive them because im not a homo

but if im about to take off on a plane and u puropisly run infront to teamkill me all hell will break lose i will come back around on that plane and bomb u its just another -4 points i can get that back quickly but for the revenge its worth it

Why cant they implement some audible warning for teammates when they are approching another teammates explosives? or the red skull should be bigger as some people for whatever reason don't see it or just plain ignore it.And let's face it some loser's that can't play that well probably get frustrated and do it on purpose just to hear the punished teammate get upset about it.

It may be different now but when the game came out it was like this:

A TK on a friendly with full life results in -2 for 50% team damage, -2 for the kill. Then, if they punished, it was another -4.

Why the hell does everyone speak out of their bums? Here is how it works, it's a fact: sometimes when you TK you get team damage which is -2. You ALWAYS get -4 for a TK no matter what. All punishing does is count torwards the default rule of 3 punishes and youre kicked (some servers have it set for more punishes req and some set to never kick). It's that easy guys. Ill say it one more time.

-2 for team vehicle/player damage
-4 for a TK

Sometimes when you TK, you get a team dmg right before it. Or if youre unlock and youre using the uber USS Essex weapon and use the chaingun on a friendly vehicle/chopper, thats about 9 billion team vehicle damages and you can pretty much play for the next 2-3 rounds to make up for it.

I'll pretty much always forgive a TK unless:

1) Someone is being an idiot beyond reasonable excuse
2) Someone is TKing so they can get to that vehicle before me

Half of the time it's an honest mistake or accident, the other half...it's my fault. Occasionally (if I've had a particularly bad time I'd consider punishing someone if they didn't bother to stretch out a finger or two and saying 'Sorry'...but it has to be a really bad time)

Yeah, I know. I've been the victim of idiots that can't see mines, run in front of my vehicle, etc, etc, etc, just as much as anyone.

(And I play with 3D map icons OFF and I still spot mines before I run over them (most of the time - in the heat of the battle it sometimes happens, but that's what 'forgive' is for))

For Tk, I believe they should be a little milder with the point punishment. Hell, it is a war game, do you think that in real life people don't get hit by friendly fire? Accidents happen... In WW2 the Russians actually used friendly fire as a motivation, not that I find it an agreeable method, but anyways.

As for the punishment button, it should not imply an auto-kick vote, but more a "punished player does not get access to any vehicle during 30 seconds". That would end all Tk for vehicles, because those players don't care about the -4 points. Getting punished by mine-o-philic players? Well, to bad, but 30 seconds is not an eternity.

Anyone here who has set up a server? It may be that in the settings you can set team damage, TK, and punish penalties, and on some servers tested, punish penalty is 0, on some it's 2, etc. Not meaning to speak out of turn claiming it's so... just asking the question.

No, it actually all depends on the server you are playing on. The point system varies from server to server, and I have gotten extra - points for punishes.
