Hey Through years of FPS gaming with buddies for the past 10 years now before broadband killed all the LAN parties and all that jazz. I've realized there are two types of FPS players and I just wanted to see where most of you fit.

Pick which line of games was more up your Alley for FPS MULTI PLAYER GAMIN

Type 1,

Duke Nukem, Doom, Quake, Serious Sam, Unreal Tourney/ Bunny hoppin Rocket Jumpin Mayem!

Type 2,

Delta Force, Rainbow 6, Hidden and Dangerous, Operation Flashpoint, Day of Defeat/ Sniping, creepy crawling patient Tatical folk.

(and if your a Paintballer too list Speedball or 26 hour Scenerios)

Gee, I guess I don't fit into Type 1 OR Type 2...

I stopped playing FPS after Unreal. Went on about my life, occasionally playing AoE with the wife. 2 years ago I tried MaxPayne2 and found it fascinating. I then played several other FPS games with actual plot-lines and such. I tried COD and MOHAA in single-player and hated 'em (great 1/2 games, but not fulfilling). I then accidentally tried MOHAA online during sabbatical last year...WOW...I ended up joining a clan, even?!

BF2 was kinda fun and I bought it immediately after it came out (the demo didn't work on my box, so it was a leap of faith). My vid card held me back and my 9800PRO died about a month ago...and a business trip kept me away...and then I got frustrated, updated my card, found out that this game is FUN and I'm back in the game. I've got about 3000 points since last week (I was sick, so I had an excuse ). I thought Gunny was going to take to the end of the year...now I'm wondering if First Shirt isn't coming by then.

Then I look at the leaderboard and realize that I just love the game, the teamwork, and playing with me m8s cuz I ain't never gonna be a Lt OR a SMoA. It's all good.

type 2. I loved all the rainbow six series, and played them quite a bit before BF1942 came out. tactical realistic sims is where it is at. . . Run and gun, fire 85 RPG's at some one to kill him is for the poster children of Jack Tompson

More 2 than 1, but I like my online FPS's more MOH:AA/SOFII/BF2 than OpFlashpoint - i.e. more arcadey than realistic, but I like to play a good tactical game.

I played Quake and Quake II over and over. I was addicted to UT - at one point I was spending over 8 hours a day playing and made it up to about #25 in the ranks - it was all I did (other than work - sad yes but true).
I stopped playing all games after Unreal Tourney (had to physically uninstall it from my computer - my custom gaming rig became a glorified web box for email and surfing the web and slowly became a poor old lame PC.

5 years past and a few buddies tell me they play this amazing game called BF2.
Well 3 weeks and about $4000 later I am up and running with my new gaming rig and loving every minute of BF2.

I started my Video Game addiction in the 70's with PONG.
I moved on to Colleco, Intellevision & Atari as they all came out.
Went through Sega and Nintendo

On those Systems i was a Zelda/Turok/Goldeneye type of gamer.

Rogue Spear is what got me into PC gaming.
than onto..
All other RB6 Titles,
Counter-Strike: Source

Now BF2.

34 years old, been gaming all my life.

And yea, still manage to have a real life too, lol

You forgot about Counter-Strike! I played the crap out of Counter-Strike and now BF2 is my new love. I like my single FPS too, Half-Life 1 & 2, Far Cry, F.E.A.R., Medal Of Honour, and No One Lives Forever 1 & 2 are some favorites.

Good old flash point!!! I must credit my amazing FPS ablities to Unreal Tourny, Delta Force, Rain Bow Six, Medal of Honor, BF1942, Vietnam, Serious Sam, Call of duty, Ghost recon, Doom, Quake 3, and of corce Paintball!!

I havent played in for ever, I sold all my guns, But I used to have an Emag, and a Shocker SF, and a Spyder TL with the ELCD grip.....those where the days!!!

Yep i played the hell out of counterstrike aswell back with the original cs_alley1 and the sniper rifles had night vision scopes and you could stil open doors turn lights off and use your flashlight as a ghost! haha

truth is it probably goes into type 2 orginally but after enough type 1 complaining its turned into a type1 game now.

I love type2 games and I play and command a sponsered 26 hour scenerio team as far as paintballin put me in a speedball arena and ill just use my pt extremes! haha

Where do you guys think BF2 fits?? type 1 or 2? its seems very inbetween kinda like counterstrike has become

MoH, Castle Wolfistine and SoF are type 1 games discuised as a type 2 game if you ask me

Type 1 all the way

I played soo much UT2k4 at one point I had to have an extra PTC, but i made it into the top 25 CTF players, top 50 Deathmatch and top 50 in Assault.

Whenever I play Type 2's I can't help but incorporate Type 1 Gameplay into it.

Type 1 Attitude: CHARGE! BRING IT ON! If we die we're gonna take them ALL down with us! AND WE WILL DIE!!!!

Type 1's can play Type 2 with a bit of control. Type 2's find it hard to play Type 1.

ditto.. CoD before this, and SW Battlefront, all within 4 months before BF2 came out.

Got tired of the RTS games. BF42' got me into the FPS after a long break from SOCOM II. Back into PC games and BF2. Type 1.5C
