Whenever I use fraps my FPS drops to 8 and I get MASSIVE lag. What can I do to stop this? My FPS is really high until I start recording. I have the unregistered version.

Check your processes list and get rid of what you can. if your trying to run this with under a gig its not going to work well.

I have a gateway. Pentium 4 processor with hyper threading blah blah blah. ATI Radeon X700 PCI express graphics card with 256 ram. 1 gig of memory, and a 250 gig hd. For some reason it just lags like heck when I start recording but I rarely lag when Im not.

interesting, i had almost the same specs untill recently and I got 40 FPS while recording in BF2. Set the screen size to 'half-size' to begin with.

Yeah, but how fast is your Pentium 4?  There is a massive range from 1.?? - 3.??ghz. Check system under control panel.

An extra 512mb RAM wouldn't hurt.

I am going to stick with you need more RAM. I have only a 3200+ Athlon 64, 6800, and 1.5gbs and I can run the game at full settings and fraps on with no lag.

Hi..

It drops the game FPS to whatever you set it to record at, so that it doesnt lose a bunch of frames resulting in stuttering and skipping.

Try setting the recording rate to 60FPS, and if it still lags somewhat, play around with the GFX quality settings. You will have to trade off between visual quality and the ability to play the game without stuttering.

Also be aware that as long as you have recorded video files on your PC, your HD will be greatly fragmented, resulting in sloppy performance overall.

Probably is a low RAM issue. Or perhaps the user hasn't recently updated their graphic driver set. 2 Gigs of decent quality DDR-400 will only set you back like $175 or less depending where you get it. (Two 1 Gig Sticks - For future upgrades)

It lags less when I turned it to half size. Id rather save for a new comp than get some ram. Thanks for all your help

Dude, get more RAM.

Mine kicks ass at full settings with the 8GB that I have.
