Anyone care to explain how I started off as an average player and seem to have got consistently worse over time?

Must admit I mainly only play Gulf Of Oman, normally as sniper, engineer, or anti tank. If I sit around waiting for targets no-one ever turns up, soon as I go looking for trouble some ahole in a jet/chopper mows me down. I dont want to start moaning about baserapers and jets and all that stuff - thats not the point, I just cant understand why I used to get 35/40 in a round and am now lucky to get 10.

I'm assuming its a coincidence I've recently installed 1.3.

Either way its really arsing me off and ruining what is a great game - all the glitches apart

Try a different map.  I do nothing but die on the Gulf of Oman.  Also join a squad and stick with the squad leader.  Safety in numbers!

cool down dude, don't let it ruin your game. first, take a nice weeklong break and play an older game, watch tv, go outside, whatever. then, when you come back, sample a few maps in a local server. pick about 3-5, and start playing those. yeah, it won't fix your scores immediately, but it will refresh the game for you, give you a new stomping grounds, and make you feel better when you start improving again.

What he said. On Oman, all I do is jet/helo, because if you don't, you're dead. I was on the USMC one round and the MEC raped the hell outta us. They took all the flags and were raping the carrier. We finally got the western most flag behind that big building and kept a few after that. I got a gold medal that round because I kept spawning with AT and blowing up tanks. Such bastards they were. But, I've been on my side of raping too... in BF2 that is

yes thanks for the advice all, makes sense, i'll go and hit the beers instead for a while then comeback and play somewhere else.

I don't know, I've got considerably better as time goes on. I used to have a kd ratio of .66 and a spm of 1, but over time I've increased it to .85 and 1.3 (I know its still rubbish but much better than what it was). I think you may have to adjust your game style with this latest patch. Stay with your squad leader and try and keep him alive. You'l get pletny of points in no time.
