I would like to know how because my computer is rubbish and I don't have the money needed for a worth while upgrade, and if it works for other games and boosts FPS might as well try it out for this game.

Sorry I don't understand the question? if you looking for Direct x settings click start go run and type dxdiag ( that will load up Direct x features )

An example I can think of is for Call of Duty 2 is how you can let it run DirectX 7 textures  and you can choose to let CounterStrike: Source run in Direct X 8.1.  It is hard to explain.  : /

im not completly sure, but you go to your bf2 short cut, right click and select properties. Click on the "Shortcut" tab. in the target window, scroll all the way to the right and add "-dx8" to the end. Should look like this:

"C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield2\BF2.exe" -dx8

This worked for me in Guild Wars, so it should be the same for BF2
