Well, if you let all your points get captured and you're chinese on wake, I feel no pity for you and will proceed to rape. Oh and don't try swimming across to the other points, I WILL hunt you down.dsb wrote:
BASERAPER!!! WAAAAAA!!!!
First let me say I'm chopping at the bit for Desert Combat to be upgraded texture wise to BF2 standards. Why would I play anything else after that?
Second, Wake is a pretty good map. It shows just how important squad tactics and quick transport is to take the field. With my increased skill as of late in Transport Helicopters I have learned that it takes a smart squad sticking together and putting pressure on intial defenses coupled with out maneuvering (i.e. flanking) enemy units to take a defensive area. At least from the USMC side.
Tactic that seems to work best for the US on Wake is a double attack on the North or South flag capture points. First if at all possible it's nice to have your jet take out the AA implacement next to either flag point. Then you come in with two Blackhawks each with a squad or an assortment. One blackhawk does a quick drop off to the west of the point and the other blackhawk goes to the east. You drop two squads, about 8 to 10 guys, and the base falls rather quickly. Rinse repeat with the other flag North or South.
With a good team you have both land flags captured in about 6 minutes or so and you start your land assault towards the other bases. After that it's an air war. I've tried repeating this tactic on the next base with very limited success. Way too many enemy shooting at you. But I can say that I've gotten rather good at skimming the ocean and then popping up above the tree line, dusting off and then taking off again. I like the feel of it personally. I wonder what others see when I do this.
Now if I could just get the hang of the Combat Heli. Damn thing is still too fast for me yet. Of course I'm still using the Mouse for Helicopter flight. Find it works better for me than the joystick so far.

W-A-K-E (Where Airplanes Kill Everybody) Island Sucks...
I'm only ever in a 2-man squad with General_Zod or Davo_of_War and we're generally enough to take a large amount of flags.
I only ever play when playing with them.
