That's the beauty of the DPI on-the-fly switching.  You get into a vehicle and throttle your DPI up to 800ish (I set mine at 850).  In Armor, I throttle up to 1600 DPI.
I go up to at least 1600 in any turret.  It realy helps swing around to spot the AT guys when your in an apc or a tank.  I often try to pick sniping positions that are close to a jeep or Humv for quick escape or to take down a chopper when needed.  800-1200 is good for normal combat 200m or closer with low DPI for long range snipershots.   There is a learning curve messing with the settings, but my speed and performace have gone up a lot since I comfortable with the switch to a G5 and now my stats are slowly improving even though I seem to be a spawn kill magnet.

How do i check the DPI of my mouse? Its not a gaming one or anything, I'm just interested to know.

Edit: Never mind - looked it up on a website. Seems to be 800. That any good?

It also said you can use it on a PS2, that could be interesting...
Most are 800. 800 DPI is a good medium for most all play in BF2.  If you want to slow it down you can change the sensitivity settings in windows or the acceleration.   BF2 also has mouse sensitivity in the control settings screen.

Another difference between mice is Optical vs. Laser.   Optical is just an LED light to illuminate the surface of the mouse pad.  Laser is a concentrated beam of light that gives a clearer image of the surface.

Yes, it does.  I thought the same before I got my new moose.  I used to use a Microsoft Intellimoose Explorer and I decided to get a Logitech G5.
